Studio Arts Photography
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

English - Publishing Studies
   The Publishing Studies sequence is designed to prepare graduates for careers in all types of publishing. Undergraduate students interested in nonprofit presses, journals, and scholarly publications are well suited for this sequence.

Skillsets acquired by completing the sequence includes proofreading, editing, design and layout, marketing, advertising, permissions, graphic work, record keeping, archiving, and bulk/distribution mailing. By providing a broad work experience, students not only build their portfolios, but also enter the marketplace with valuable and current skills.

The Theatre Teacher Education sequence at Illinois State University is dedicated to preparing highly qualified teachers/artists to meet the challenges of education in the secondary school system.

Fashion Design and Merchandising
The Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) program at Illinois State University puts your designs on the runway, connects you with professionals nationwide, teaches courses in all areas of design and merchandising through industry-level Design Studio and Textile Lab facilities, and inspires you with the 2,000 piece Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection.

FDM courses include Textiles, Fashion Trend and Industry Analysis, Advanced Textiles, Clothing and Behavior, Economics of Fashion, Apparel Product Development, Apparel Product Analysis, and Fashion Promotion. Within the FDM program, you can select from two different emphasis options:

• The Fashion Merchandising option which includes additional courses in retail buying
• The Fashion Design and Product Development option which includes additional courses in draping and flat pattern making

Majoring in history lets you dive into the topics you are most excited about. Our program offers nearly 100 courses – from the Middle Ages to the American Revolution. You’ll get the opportunity to learn in small classes from a passionate faculty.

History at Illinois State offers an Accelerated Master’s Degree (AMD) sequence. This option gives high-achieving undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a master’s degree with only one year of additional study. Once enrolled in the major, you can contact your advisor to learn more.

Technology - Project Management
Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a broad range of activities large or small in order to meet the requirements of the particular project or temporary endeavor.

Project Management is viewed as a generalized skill set that is sought after in both private industry and government agencies alike.

The graduate Project Management courses in the Department of Technology are designed to prepare technical professionals for entry into the fast-growing ranks of project manager. This sequence is intended to help the technical manager begin to understand the processes and knowledge areas that are common to all projects.

The bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology provides a solid foundation in the life sciences for students seeking careers in medicine, government, or entry-level positions in biotechnology as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

The degree also serves as a basis for graduate studies in biology. While the degree may satisfy many requirements for professional and graduate programs, it is important to consult the admission requirements for a particular program as early as possible. Additional coursework may be taken as electives to support later postgraduate work.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers a Master of Science or Master of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a sequence in Human Development and Family Science. This sequence is most appropriate for individuals interested in careers in human development and/or family science who have a human/child development and family science degree or related undergraduate degrees such as psychology, sociology, and social work.

Career opportunities for graduates are in the areas of parent and family education agencies, non-profit organizations, community outreach services, residential- and child-care facilities, and other related areas. Positions could include working as case managers, program coordinators, family/parent educators, and administrators.
