Human Development and Family Science
The Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) major prepares students to provide educational, preventive and intervention services to individuals and families which enhance personal, family and community well-being. Students develop the skills needed to assist people of all ages achieve individual and family well-being.

The basic curriculum is designed to thoroughly acquaint Marketing majors with the broad field of marketing and to allow focused study in narrower subfields, depending upon the students' interests and aptitudes. Students may choose Marketing electives from one or more of the following six career-track concentrations: Advertising/Promotion, Business/Industrial Marketing, Marketing Research, Retailing/Distribution, Selling/Sales Management, and Services Marketing.

The sociology field is broad and our program reflects that. We'll give you a solid foundation in data analysis and research methods to prepare you to work in a data-driven society. From there, what you study is up to you. You can choose to focus on areas of sociology that engage you and meet your goals.

We offer lots of opportunities for you to take a deep dive into your passion. In addition to a thesis, you can work one-on-one with faculty on research projects that make positive impacts in communities around the world.

Information Systems - Internet Application Development
Internet Application Development is a master's sequence in Information Systems and is ideal for students seeking advanced knowledge in web development. The program provides specialized education in emerging technologies, including mobile application development.

Based on your professional goals, you can choose to do a thesis, project, or take extra courses to complete the program.

The Public Relations major prepares students to research, plan, execute, and evaluate communication between an organization and its publics, monitor the organization's environment, and counsel management on policies and programs. The major is designed to prepare students to help private industry and public organizations improve the quality of communication among themselves, their employees, the general public and government.

Our master’s degree in Applied Economics links basic economic theory and statistical techniques to real-world problems faced by decision makers. With emphasis on extensive training in econometrics and forecasting, exposure to working with large and diverse data sets, and a wide range of statistical software, this program gives students the applied skills that employers demand and provides those pursuing advanced degrees an edge in gaining admission to top Ph.D. programs.

The Applied Economics sequence is designed to train students in the quantitative and applied economic skills that will best enhance their future employment opportunities as economists, research analysts, or planners in the private and public sectors. While the curriculum is structured as a terminal degree in applied economics and many graduates have advanced to doctoral-level programs in economics and in related disciplines, the program is also well suited for individuals who wish to return to school to obtain a graduate degree in a business-related discipline for the purpose of career advancement.

The Applied Economics program is a STEM designated degree, which focuses on the systematic study of mathematical and statistical analysis of economic phenomena and problems. STEM designated degree programs offer additional benefits for students, including potential grant funded opportunities and, for international students, extended OPT study options.

Agriculture - Agriculture Communications and Leadership
The Agriculture Communications and Leadership sequence combines a broad background in agriculture and elements of education and leadership training with coursework and experiences in the field of communication to prepare students for a wide variety of opportunities in the agricultural press, corporate communications, extension education, and a variety of non-formal education careers.

The Actuarial Science Program at Illinois State combines high quality education in all areas of actuarial theory with serious commitment to actuarial practice and professionalism.

We offer two ways to complete the M.S. in Actuarial Science; traditional (on-campus) or online. The actuarial science program is designed to support you as you prepare to pass the professional exams set by the two major societies for Actuaries in the U.S. or to take similar exams from similar societies elsewhere.
