The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Agriculture - Agriculture Teacher Education
Agriculture is a thriving industry. From companies providing input supplies to the fast-paced distribution and retail food industry, the demand for entry level workers is strong. Providing high quality entry level workers begins in the classroom. Those classrooms need quality teachers. Whether your career goals lie in the classroom or elsewhere, consider agricultural education.

The specialist program in School Psychology is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the Council for Accreditation of Teacher Educator Preparation (CAEP), and the Illinois State Board of Education. We provide our students with comprehensive curriculum, high quality training, and properly supervised field experiences that are consistent with NASP Standards for Graduate Preparation of School Psychologists (2010). The mission of the specialist program, which emphasizes the scientist-practitioner model of training, is to develop entry-level competencies in our graduates so they can function as school psychologists in public and private schools. The specialist degree can be completed in three years with full time enrollment on campus for two years and a 9-month internship.

It examines data to get to the root cause of problems and issues, such as racism, divorce, poverty, and crime. Sociology also develops solutions that move us in a positive direction.

Being part of our program, you’ll join other students who share your passion for helping others. We’ll help you discover how you can be a major player in sparking positive change. You’ll learn about the power of social structures, how decisions get made, and how social movements gain traction. We also take a close look at cultures, diversity, and inclusion.

Our program applies academic concepts to the real world and helps you develop the crucial skills employers need.

Most of our students do not become Sociologists. Instead, you can find them doing important work in non-profits, law enforcement, business, health care, and more.

Biology Teacher Education
The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University has a longstanding tradition in training biology teachers. Students complete a rigorous program that includes professional education courses as well as laboratory-intensive biology coursework. Students will become licensed to teach all high school science courses (biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science), including AP and honors biology.

Theatre Teacher Education
The Theatre Teacher Education sequence at Illinois State University is dedicated to preparing highly qualified teachers/artists to meet the challenges of education in the secondary school system.

Illinois State University is recognized nationally as the second largest producer of teachers among institutions certified by the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education. Nearly one of every seven teachers in Illinois public school classrooms holds a degree from Illinois State.

This program helps students make the jump from sports fan to sport management. It includes innovative curriculum, small class sizes, and numerous opportunities to network and gain practical experience.

Our students work hard in the field and in the classroom. Through field trips, speakers, and class activities, students have numerous opportunities to connect with high-level sport executives and get practical experience with assistantships, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

These experiences give Illinois State students an impressive resume and thanks to our relationships with sport organizations throughout the country, they are able to form strong networking partnerships that often help them land a job in the sports industry.
