Communication Studies - Organizational and Leadership Communication
The Communication Studies - Organizational and Leadership Communication sequence enhances communication knowledge, understanding, and skills for enhancing organizational relationships. The goal of this sequence is to equip the student to successfully use communication as a tool to enhance organizational outcomes. Students will gain an understanding of how communication processes can be used to manage behaviors in an organizational context while becoming a competent communicator.

Legal Studies
Students in Legal Studies, a major offered by the Department of Politics and Government, have great opportunities for learning and growth, both as individuals and within the paralegal field as a whole. The Department of Politics and Government provides a variety of resources for Legal Studies majors including internship opportunities, small class sizes, as well as full-time faculty or experienced practitioners teaching all levels of coursework.

The Legal Studies curriculum is designed to provide specialized knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment as a paralegal. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law. Students preparing for law school should consult with the pre-law advisor to determine which courses are appropriate for them.

Political Science
Students in Political Science at Illinois State University have some of the greatest opportunities for learning and growth, both as individuals and within the field as a whole. The Master of Music in String Pedagogy prepares students to become highly qualified and knowledgeable string teachers who will be prepared to pursue a career in teaching strings in a variety of settings or pursue a doctoral degree.

 The curriculum includes:

• String pedagogy and literature
• Professional practice
• Applied lessons on primary and secondary stringed instruments)
• And core music courses, i.e. music theory, history, and research methods
• Electives - chamber music, non-degree recitals, etc.

 String Pedagogy students will gain critical professional practice experience working in the nationally recognized ISU String Project (large group, small group, and private lessons) as well as through teaching the MusicScores! curriculum at local Head Start preschool sites.

Studio Arts Wood/Metals
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Accounting - Career Specialty
The Accounting - Career Specialty sequence allows accounting majors to design an individualized plan of study that meets their career goals. In addition to the required accounting courses, students complete 12 hours in a specialized area with advice and approval of the accounting academic advisor and the department chair.

Students pursuing the Master of Music in Conducting are given extensive podium time and are mentored by dedicated and active conducting faculty. Upon graduation students are prepared to:

• Seek their doctoral degree
• Conduct school, church or community ensembles
• Conduct at a community college or university

The curriculum includes:

• Applied conducting
• Analysis for conductors
• Research
• Practicum in conducting
• Electives chosen from courses like non-degree recitals, music technology, music history, music theory, music education, music therapy, music business, jazz studies, ensembles, and non-music courses

M.S. in Biological Sciences with sequences in: Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics; Bioenergy Sciences; Biomathematics; Biotechnology; Conservation Biology; Neuroscience and Physiology; and a Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences with sequences in: Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics; Molecular and Cellular Biology; and Neurosciences.

German
The German major offers courses in literature, culture, and language within a setting that stresses frequent and informal interaction of students with faculty and with visiting German students on campus. Students can study literary greats from Goethe to Kafka, examine fairy tales or popular song texts, and learn about the latest developments in the European Union. Honors students and students who are merely interested have deciphered letters written by 19th-century German immigrants; and all are welcome at weekly informal gatherings where our local German students often form bonds with visiting students from Germany.
