Crop Science and Soil Science
Want to get your hands dirty while making a difference? Our students work on solving the most complex agricultural and natural resource problems faced in Oregon, our nation and across the globe. Students who want to make a measurable difference in our communities are perfect candidates for a degree in either crop science or soil science. Graduates of our program, in demand across the United States, typically have several job offers by the time that they graduate.

Tourism, Recreation & Adventure Leadership
The tourism and outdoor recreation industries are among the largest in the world and continue to grow in Oregon and throughout the nation. As a TRAL graduate, you will be a leader, educator and entrepreneur in our most important natural spaces. You will be on the cutting edge of this exciting, ever-changing industry and go on to educate others about the natural world, lead life-changing adventure opportunities, create brand new businesses based on the idea of sharing the outdoors with others and more.

Economics
The department offers four different paths in the major and a minor:

• General Economics Option - Organizations want employees who can think, communicate orally, write, and solve problems, and who are comfortable with quantitative analysis.
• Managerial Economics Option - The Managerial Economics Option is an interdisciplinary program which allows students to use business classes toward the requirements of the economics degree.
• Law, Economics and Policy Option - The Law, Economics and Policy Option is an interdisciplinary program drawing from political science and philosophy courses as well as economics.
• Mathematical Economics Option - As the economics profession becomes increasingly mathematical, economics majors who plan to go to graduate school need a strong math background.

Sociology
Sociology is the study of human social behavior and sociologists examine interactions within and between groups and resulting social institutions. The undergraduate program in sociology provides a general analysis and broad understanding of human societies and culture for persons in all fields. Selecting courses around a topic or theme of interest adds meaning to one’s education and strengthens the base of understanding from which one can pursue a career or further education. Two options are currently available for those interested — Crime and Justice, and Environmental and Natural Resource Sociology — although students can shape a custom theme such as international development or social policy.

The mechanical engineering (ME) profession is dedicated to applying principles of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics in the analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical components, devices, and systems. Oregon State's graduate program in Mechanical Engineering is designed to educate leaders who will develop and improve systems for transforming energy, health, materials, and information to meet the needs of society.  To be eligible for graduate studies at Oregon State, Mechanical Engineering applicants must have a baccalaureate or master’s degree in science, mathematics, or engineering.

Marketing
The marketing curriculum provides students with technical marketing skills and leadership training. Opportunities exist for marketing graduates in a wide variety of organizations, including manufacturing firms, service firms, retailers, wholesalers, advertising agencies, the communications media and government agencies. Career options include sales, advertising, retailing, brand management, logistics management, market research, purchasing management and more.

For students earning their first or second (post baccalaureate) Bachelor's degree the BS in Fisheries and Wildlife (FW) Sciences offers first-rate training in processes and strategies for the management and conservation of fish, wildlife, and marine species and their habitats.  Students in our degree program learn to think critically and evaluate problems using basic and applied science and fundamental ecological principles, and through consideration of social influences on conservation.

The arts, media and technology degree prepares you for a career as a creative professional. The program's multidisciplinary curriculum integrates critical, theoretical and historical knowledge of the arts and media with the technical skills required for a career in the visual arts and design fields.

The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art education that prepares our students to be successful in engineering practice, advanced studies and research.

The master's degree provides advanced instruction beyond the undergraduate degree. It prepares students for careers in which a higher level of experience is required. The Master of Engineering is a course work-only degree with no required thesis or project report.
