The BS degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides a degree path centered on the molecular basis of living systems with training in molecular genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology, as well as in rapidly developing areas such as bioinformatics. Completion of an option is required to earn a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Majors must select an option either in Advanced Molecular Biology, Computational Molecular Biology, or Pre-medicine. The first two options are designed for students interested in careers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries or graduate work in the molecular life sciences, with the second especially well-suited for students interested in computational aspects of molecular biology. The third option is ideal for students interested in careers in medicine and related health professions.

The graduate program in Biological & Ecological Engineering deals with diverse issues in the design and analysis of a wide range of biological and hydrologic systems. Focus areas are in bioprocessing, biosystems analysis and water resource engineering/watershed analysis.

Research topics in Biological and Ecological engineering encompass biofuels production, metabolic engineering, microbial fuel cells, biohydrogen production, agrivoltaics, waste and waste water treatment, modeling and control of biological systems, biofuel systems analysis using techno-economic models and life cycle assessment.

Civil Engineering
Civil engineering is the design, construction, and maintenance of public works, including roads, bridges, harbors, etc. At Oregon State University our programs in civil engineering prepare students to become working professional civil engineering and academic researchers who study civil engineering problems. The marketing curriculum provides students with technical marketing skills and leadership training. Opportunities exist for marketing graduates in a wide variety of organizations, including manufacturing firms, service firms, retailers, wholesalers, advertising agencies, the communications media and government agencies. Career options include sales, advertising, retailing, brand management, logistics management, market research, purchasing management and more.
