Geography and geospatial science provide approaches and tools to address pressing issues affecting communities, nations and the planet. At OSU students combine geography — the study of human and Earth system processes in space and time — and geospatial science — the collection, analysis, and presentation of spatial data — to analyze and interpret change in the environment and human society. The program has three areas of excellence: geospatial analysis and modeling, dynamic Earth processes, and global change risk and resilience. Graduates work in government, industry, and non-governmental organizations, addressing climate change, environmental hazards, natural resources, and their human dimensions. Digital Communication Arts
The Digital Communication Arts degree focuses on the storytelling capacity of media and prepares students to be successful navigators of ever-changing technology. Students in this major will learn alternative writing approaches, nonlinear storytelling, multiple formats, and how mediated storytelling affects the story itself. They investigate how our culture will change as people shift from multiple streams of communication to information flow on a single device, and how the structures of traditional media will adapt. Courses focus on several dimensions of media adoption and adaptation including access and inclusivity, personalization and privacy, science and business. New media requires continuous research and development. Practitioners will need to be prepared to be life-long learners.

Physics
The Department of Physics at Oregon State University offers degree programs leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics within the College of Science. Several options to the Physics B.S. degree are available, including Applied Physics, Biological Physics, Chemical Physics, Computational Physics, Geophysics, Mathematical Physics, Optical Physics, and Physics Education.  We also offer a minor in Physics.

Our Master's International Direct pairs a Direct Entry I-20 with customized support during the first term of students' graduate studies in MS Environmental Sciences. Students will benefit from increased support throughout the predeparture and academic journey as they study alongside domestic students.

The Environmental Sciences Graduate Program develops scientists who will be able to analyze and understand environmental systems, predict environmental change, and participate in the management of the environment. Each student completing a major in the program will perform research and complete a thesis, dissertation, or research project. Each student will also develop depth in a carefully designed, interdisciplinary area of concentration or track. Tracks that are currently available include ecology, biogeochemistry, social science, quantitative analysis, water resources, and environmental education. Methods and numerical skill courses, electives, and thesis make up the remainder of a student’s program.

Manufacturing Engineering
The MfgE program lays the foundation for being a successful engineer. Along with an introductory industrial and manufacturing engineering course, you'll take courses in basic engineering science, math and statistics, chemistry and physics, and oral and written communication. The junior & senior year of your OSU MfgE education focuses on strengthening and extending your discipline-specific knowledge and experience. Core coursework in MfgE includes manufacturing materials and processes, production engineering, production planning and control, computer aided design and manufacturing, design of mechanical devises and work systems, lean manufacturing systems engineering, thermal–fluid sciences, design on experiments, simulation, and statistical quality control.

The arts, media and technology degree prepares you for a career as a creative professional. The program's multidisciplinary curriculum integrates critical, theoretical and historical knowledge of the arts and media with the technical skills required for a career in the visual arts and design fields.

The philosophy program at OSU is designed to help students develop moral reasoning and critical thinking skills in the service of an engaged life.  Through coursework, campus events, and community involvement, our students learn how to identify, analyze, and resolve ethical, political, and epistemic issues, mentored by faculty who are actively involved in ethics and social justice research across a wide array of disciplines on the environment, religion, biomedicine, global justice, peace and conflict studies, and more.
