Public Health
As a public health professional, you’ll work behind the scenes to prevent disease and protect and promote health. You’ll take a holistic look at disease and injury prevention, including environmental issues, health policies and what we call the social determinants of health, which are the social and environmental conditions in which we are born, grow, live, work and age. In addition, you’ll address health across the lifespan, health disparities and health equity. You’ll also have the opportunity to work locally, nationally and internationally on critical health issues in one of the few undergraduate public health programs in the country.

Public Health
We offer the most comprehensive range of accredited public health graduate degree program in Oregon and are gaining momentum and enthusiasm as the state’s first accredited college of public health. Our interdisciplinary approach, research centers and focus on both rural and urban health will enrich your educational experience and set you apart in this evolving profession.

Our public health program is built on the foundation of environmental health sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and health management and policy. Our curricula incorporate an ecological approach to disease prevention and health promotion, including cultural, social, environmental, behavioral and economic factors that impact population health.

We offer an array of concentrations representing the varied disciplines of public health practice. Management
The management curriculum helps prepare students for careers as managers and supervisors in goods-producing and service enterprises. Students obtain a solid grounding in management of systems, personnel and quality. The integrative focus of the program also provides excellent preparation for graduate-level studies in law, urban and regional planning, public services administration, and health care administration. Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling all that encompasses human, material and financial resources in an organizational environment. A management degree means that you have learned the concepts of getting things done through others within organizations.

Biochemistry and Biophysics
The BS degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics provides a degree path centered on the chemistry and physics of life processes with training that integrates the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biochemistry, genetics, and computer science.  Biochemists explore the chemical structure of living matter and the chemical reactions occurring in living cells. Biophysicists use the methods of physical science to study the structure and functions of macromolecules and solve problems at the intersection of biological and physical sciences.

Art
Our goal is to help stimulate intellectual and aesthetic inquiry, develop our students' creative and technical skills, and graduate engaged, culturally aware citizens. Students here have the opportunity to choose from several options: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and art history.

Religious Studies
Religious Studies at OSU is an inter-disciplinary field that combines history, philosophy, anthropology, ethics, textual analysis, art, literature and film to examine the ways that humans have described and acted in response to that which they have called divine, both in civilizations long past and among peoples and nations around the world in the present moment. This graduate program combines a strong social science faculty with a strong biological and ecological science faculty and so provides an unusual opportunity to focus on the interface of social science and ecology. The FES graduate program provides specific disciplinary opportunities in both ecological and social sciences in the natural resource setting but also strives to develop interdisciplinary skills and knowledge. Our program objective is to develop interdisciplinary thinkers, highly capable scientists, and natural resource leaders who are prepared to solve complex socio-ecological problems. The students will be able to identify and contribute to collaborative solutions in ecology and natural resources-related social science.
