Oregon State University's natural resources undergraduate degree program will provide you technical skills and scientific knowledge that spans various natural resources and social science disciplines. As a natural resources major, you will study the science and management of resources such as fish and wildlife, forests, range and water, as well as the development of sustainable environmental policies and human dimensions of natural resources. The goal of the finance program at OSU is to prepare students for careers in institutional finance, which includes careers in banking, brokerage, insurance and other fields. Within the lending area, finance majors can specialize in installment credit lending to consumers of durable goods, mortgage lending to home builders and buyers, or commercial lending to help finance the growth of businesses. Men and women entering the securities industry find careers as stock and bond brokers, security analysts or portfolio managers. Individuals choosing the area of insurance typically enter company operations through either claims or underwriting positions.

Bioresource Research
BioResource Research (BRR) is an interdisciplinary biosciences major centered around student research. Students take biosciences core courses, complete an option (bioscience/agriculture/natural resource specialization) and do a research project of their choice with a faculty mentor.

Animal Sciences
Both commodity and companion, domesticated animals provide humans with food, fiber, labor and emotional support. So, it makes sense that we need experts to keep them as healthy and productive as possible. This is where animal scientists come in.

Animal scientists help put food on our tables. They partner with farmers to improve livestock breeding, ensure adequate nutrition over the animal’s lifespan and prevent disease. They look out for the environmental impact of animal agriculture, check meat and milk for pathogens, find better ways to manage rangeland and even study the ways our house pets communicate with us.

As an expert in animal biology and behavior, you’ll spend your days improving the way we keep and employ the animals in our care. Cattle, swine, sheep or fowl, what animal agriculture, recreation and companionship may look like a decade from now well, that could be up to you!

Radiation health physicists ensure beneficial uses radiation, protecting workers and the public from potential hazards associated with exposure. Oregon State's radiation health physics program traces its roots back to the 1960s and today produces the most graduates of any program in the nation. The undergraduate or bachelor's program is broken into two sections: pre-engineering (two years) and pro-engineering (two years).

Environmental Engineering
Students can earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. The undergraduate curriculum is founded on a sound background in basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) and mathematics (calculus, differential equations), and strengthened with engineering science fundamentals (engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer). Upper division coursework in environmental engineering includes analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment systems, hazardous substance management and regulations, air pollution control technologies, and fate and transport of chemicals in the environment. All students participate in a capstone-design experience meant to foster interaction and communication between different engineering disciplines while applying environmental engineering principles to a real-world problem.

Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is an interdisciplinary graduate major that first introduces students to the elements of the Earth system and the processes of mass and energy flow among them through a set of core courses. Students then pursue focused graduate course work and research in the following concentration areas, directed by their program committee.

Atmospheric Sciences
The field of atmospheric science is inherently interdisciplinary, requiring knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, math, and computational methods. Increasingly, atmospheric science has been expanding to include studies of the effect of the climate on humans (e.g., health) and vice versa. Scientists can focus on field work, satellite data analysis, modeling, or lab work, though many atmospheric scientists use a variety of methods to understand the atmosphere, and they study processes ranging from global to microscale. Atmospheric scientists also study the relationships between the atmosphere and other climate system components (oceans, sea ice, vegetation, etc.).

Geophysics
Geophysics is concerned with physical processes within and on Earth, especially the internal physical constitution of the planet, and seismic, gravitational, geothermal, geoelectrical, geomagnetic phenomena and their relation to geological processes. The geophysics concentration offers graduate work toward MA, MS.

Oceanography
Oceanography, the application of the sciences to the study of the oceans, is an interdisciplinary environmental science concerned with all processes: biological, chemical, geological, and physical, as well as the interactions between the ocean. The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences graduate major offers MA, MS degrees with a concentration in oceanography.
