Radiation Health Physics
Radiation health physicists ensure beneficial uses radiation, protecting workers and the public from potential hazards associated with exposure. Oregon State's radiation health physics program traces its roots back to the 1960s and today produces the most graduates of any program in the nation. The undergraduate or bachelor's program is broken into two sections: pre-engineering (two years) and pro-engineering (two years).

Geography and geospatial science provide approaches and tools to address pressing issues affecting communities, nations and the planet. At OSU students combine geography — the study of human and Earth system processes in space and time — and geospatial science — the collection, analysis, and presentation of spatial data — to analyze and interpret change in the environment and human society. The program has three areas of excellence: geospatial analysis and modeling, dynamic Earth processes, and global change risk and resilience. Graduates work in government, industry, and non-governmental organizations, addressing climate change, environmental hazards, natural resources, and their human dimensions. Picture yourself in an M.S. or Ph.D. program in Geography working with some of the most creative and renowned faculty in the country.

Sociology
Sociology is the study of human social behavior and sociologists examine interactions within and between groups and resulting social institutions. The undergraduate program in sociology provides a general analysis and broad understanding of human societies and culture for persons in all fields. Selecting courses around a topic or theme of interest adds meaning to one’s education and strengthens the base of understanding from which one can pursue a career or further education. Two options are currently available for those interested — Crime and Justice, and Environmental and Natural Resource Sociology — although students can shape a custom theme such as international development or social policy.

The School of Nuclear Science and Engineering offers graduate work leading toward the Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Nuclear Engineering.

The nuclear engineering graduate degree is designed to prepare students for careers involved with the many beneficial applications of nuclear energy, radiation, and radioactive materials. Nuclear engineering professions are essential to society’s well-being since they enable significant public benefits through energy security, national defense, medical health, and industrial competitiveness.

Career options include sales, advertising, retailing, brand management, logistics management, market research, purchasing management and more.

Zoology is an interdisciplinary biological sciences degree that focuses on all aspects of the biology of animals – from genes to ecosystems. In particular, the zoology coursework covers major areas of the life sciences including genetics, physiology, ecology, evolution and conservation biology. Through comprehensive content, critical thinking skills, professional development training and the opportunity for hands-on, experiential learning, you’ll be able to apply a wealth of knowledge to real-life situations once you enter the job market.s

Oregon State University's Applied Economics Graduate Program offers M.S., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Economics. The curricula provide, at both master’s and doctoral levels: (i) a foundation of rigorous core courses in economic theory, econometrics, and other quantitative methods; and (ii) areas of concentration in resource and environmental economics, trade and development, and other open fields tailored to students interest. Students employ economic theory and methods to examine important real-world problems with significant attention to the relevant institutions, contexts, and data.

The program is designed and staffed by OSU’s distinguished graduate faculty of Applied Economics, drawn from the Departments of Applied Economics; Forest Ecosystems and Society; Forest Engineering, Resources, and Management; the School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences; and the Economics Program in the School of Public Policy.

Geography is the study of Earth's environments, landscapes, peoples, and places. It includes natural science (physical geography), social science (human geography), and geospatial science (GIScience). Geographers collect, analyze, and display spatial information, and apply the concepts and theory of geography to explore social and environmental questions.
