Renewable Materials
Building a sustainable economy depends on using wood and organic materials for building, energy and products we use every day. You can help make it a reality by facilitating the creation of manufacturing and marketing products made from renewable materials. You can go on to create innovative products, coordinate supply chains domestically or internationally, market products, start new businesses and more. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. The undergraduate curriculum is founded on a sound background in basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) and mathematics (calculus, differential equations), and strengthened with engineering science fundamentals (engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer). Upper division coursework in environmental engineering includes analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment systems, hazardous substance management and regulations, air pollution control technologies, and fate and transport of chemicals in the environment. All students participate in a capstone-design experience meant to foster interaction and communication between different engineering disciplines while applying environmental engineering principles to a real-world problem.

Public Health
We offer the most comprehensive range of accredited public health graduate degree program in Oregon and are gaining momentum and enthusiasm as the state’s first accredited college of public health. Our interdisciplinary approach, research centers and focus on both rural and urban health will enrich your educational experience and set you apart in this evolving profession.

Our public health program is built on the foundation of environmental health sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and health management and policy. Our curricula incorporate an ecological approach to disease prevention and health promotion, including cultural, social, environmental, behavioral and economic factors that impact population health.

We offer an array of concentrations representing the varied disciplines of public health practice. Through our academic programs and diverse range of research endeavors, you will gain the theoretical foundations, applied research techniques and professional skills to function effectively in reducing risks, promoting health and preventing premature disease and disability in human populations.

Graduate studies in Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University emphasize the understanding of fundamental scientific and engineering principles to manage and solve environmental problems in natural and engineering systems. The instructional program is designed to develop strong analytical, design, and management capabilities in the application of biological, chemical and physical processes. Students are prepared for careers in consulting and design, environmental monitoring and management, or teaching and research. Research focuses on hazardous substances, environmental microbiology, fundamentals of transport processes in the environment, environmental chemistry, and groundwater and surface water resources.

Business Information Systems
The Business Information Systems curriculum will teach you to harness technology to help organizations achieve a competitive advantage in today's rapidly changing environment. You will gain a firm foundation in business administration and learn to architect, manage, develop and deploy information systems. Depending on your skills and interests you might become a business process analyst, IT project manager, data modeler, systems analyst, software quality tester, developer or database administrator, or you can choose from other technology-related business careers.

Oregon State University's Applied Economics Graduate Program offers M.S., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Economics. The curricula provide, at both master’s and doctoral levels: (i) a foundation of rigorous core courses in economic theory, econometrics, and other quantitative methods; and (ii) areas of concentration in resource and environmental economics, trade and development, and other open fields tailored to students interest. Students employ economic theory and methods to examine important real-world problems with significant attention to the relevant institutions, contexts, and data.

Nutrition
A balanced diet is one of the most powerful ways to get and stay healthy. It can even help manage diseases such as diabetes and reduce the risk of others, including heart disease and osteoporosis. In our program, you’ll take a holistic look at nutrition. You’ll explore the various nutrients in food and learn about the behaviors and social factors behind the dietary choices we make. You’ll get up close and personal with macro and micro nutrients, create healthy meals using local ingredients, learn how food can help prevent chronic diseases and have the chance to advise people across the lifespan who want to improve their overall health.

Geology is the study of the materials, processes, and history of the solid Earth and its fluid envelopes. Geology is an integrative field, drawing on mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology to understand the interactions of the lithosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere. Studies in geology commonly combine observations and measurements from field, laboratory, and computational studies. Geology plays an important role in decisions about resource use, slope stability and the safety of building projects, natural hazards standards, mineral exploration and extraction, the basic workings of the Earth, and the understanding of the effects and rates of natural and human-induced change in the environment.
