Overview
Suffolk’s English majors explore the powerful connections between literary themes and modern issues. Concentration in Literature
In the Literature Concertation, you can take a wide variety of classes spanning from survey courses that explore foundational texts of the British and American literary canon along with intellectually stimulating and wide-ranging upper-level electives that focus on diverse writers and engage with multifaceted literary topics and various genres. Small class sizes foster lively classroom discussions and will allow you to benefit from individual attention from professors.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with Concentration in Broadcast
Journalism matters. Learn to report the news across print and digital platforms at Suffolk University. Whether you concentrate in broadcast journalism or print/web journalism, you'll earn a degree that's in-demand and invaluable to your career and grad school plans.
Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.
Concentration in Broadcast
In the broadcast journalism concentration, you’ll gain invaluable experience in our capstone course Suffolk U News. Internships are also vital. Suffolk students regularly work at New England Cable News, PBS, and the local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and Fox News and ESPN.

Studio Art

Interior design
Interior designers use their talents and expertise to transform and enhance society. As an interior design student at Suffolk University, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to influence the way people live, work, play, grow, move, and bond. Innovation and creative problem solving, protection of natural resources, attention to building codes and laws, and understanding human behavior will all play a role in your work.
As a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in interior design, you'll develop a comprehensive knowledge of design theory, history, and communication and design skills. Your studies will explore sustainable and socially conscious design, lighting, and furniture design, as well as code adherence and professional practices. You’ll also develop fluency in the two- and three-dimensional design software and computer hardware contemporary designers use.
