Chemistry
You’ll follow a course of study endorsed by the American Chemical Society (ACS), which is highly respected in the field. You may also join Suffolk's award-winning ACS student chapter. Students involved in this co-curricular activity host speakers and enjoy participating in community service projects, for example volunteering at the nearby Museum of Science or the Boston Children’s Museum. Additionally, opportunities may be available to attend ACS regional and national meetings to learn about current research from experts in the field and even present your own research.

Biology

Global and Cultural Communication
Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.

You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.

Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. You'll also explore emerging trends in global, ethical, legal, political communication, and social justice issues in the context of cultural theory.

With Suffolk's International Relations Major, you can gain the knowledge and skills you need to influence your local, national, and global environment while studying in the heart of Boston—a truly international city.

International Relations majors learn and develop the skills to work in government agencies (from local government all the way to the Foreign Service), intergovernmental organizations (such as the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank), and non-governmental organizations and think-tanks (such as Amnesty International and OXFAM or the Brookings Institute).

Finance
Suffolk’s MSF degree gives you a high-level understanding of corporate finance, portfolio management, investment banking, and international finance, among other topics. You can earn your MSF degree in as few as nine months through a customized track that lets you focus on a career-relevant curriculum.

Corporate Finance
Learn to analyze and understand how corporate decision-making drives a firm's performance and evaluation in relation to accounting, financial analysis, capital budgeting, credit risk analysis and corporate governance.

The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. If you’re creative, passionate, driven, and want to be an impact player in the business world, the entrepreneurship major is for you.

The curriculum has two paths: corporate entrepreneurship and launching new ventures.

Incorporate entrepreneurship, the curriculum takes you on a practical journey of idea generation, opportunity feasibility, business planning, and strategic consulting with small firms.

In the launch sequence, you’ll work with faculty to create a new venture. The program is flexible and allows movement between both paths throughout your academic career.
