At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.

Concentration in Health Careers
This concentration prepares you for post-graduate programs in healthcare fields such as medicine, physician assistant, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nurse practitioner, physical therapy, pharmacy, and others. You can tailor your coursework for your graduate program of choice while still getting a solid grounding in biology.

If you’re creative, passionate, driven, and want to be an impact player in the business world, the entrepreneurship major is for you.

The curriculum has two paths: corporate entrepreneurship and launching new ventures.

Incorporate entrepreneurship, the curriculum takes you on a practical journey of idea generation, opportunity feasibility, business planning, and strategic consulting with small firms.

In the launch sequence, you’ll work with faculty to create a new venture. The program is flexible and allows movement between both paths throughout your academic career.

The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Our trading room provides a simulated environment where you can analyze the latest stock quotes and compare currency exchange rates, just as professional traders do.

Psychology
Psychology is essentially the study of what makes us tick—the examination of mental processes and human behavior across the lifespan and across cultures. Suffolk’s approach to psychology is holistic: You’ll examine the neurological components of the brain and also study the way societies and circumstances cause different behaviors. Many majors go on to work as therapists and psychiatrists, but nearly every career requires psychological insight.

With a physics major, you can study the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest particles. Physics incorporates other sciences, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, and engineering. With this versatile degree, your job search will have forward momentum.

Economics
As an economics major at Suffolk University, you’ll be part of a vibrant community of students, scholars, and professors who synthesize data to solve social issues and substantiate policy decisions. You’ll be treated like a colleague—expect to work alongside professors on key research and policy issues; many of our scholars are frequently called on to provide policy advice and media commentary.

Our program provides a broad study of economics, from micro-and macroeconomics to statistics. With these skills, you can embark on a career in international relations, finance, government, or public policy.

As an economics major, you’ll learn to think logically to solve problems. You’ll also use observations and datasets to make important inferences. You’ll learn to state your ideas clearly and concisely in written assignments and oral presentations. Plus, you’ll discover how to analyze issues like crime, unemployment, inflation, taxes, sports, and voting behavior using economic tools and methods.

The skills you need to succeed in the fast-paced, competitive world of advertising. The creativity to dream up buzz-worthy campaigns. You'll hone both as a Suffolk University advertising major.

You’ll learn advertising industry basics, including how to create ads and plan campaigns that appeal to industry brands and nonprofits' target markets. You’ll build ads from the ground up, writing copy and designing visual elements. Plus, you'll study the fundamentals of media planning and buying as they apply to television, radio, print, online, and social media advertising.

A whole world of experiential learning awaits just outside our classrooms, too. At Suffolk, it's easy to commute to internships at nearby advertising agencies, TV stations, and other top media employers in Boston.

As a computer science major at Suffolk University, you'll study new ways of thinking and problem-solving. You'll analyze data and then model your results, and recognize patterns—all thanks to computers' increased power and advancements in software.

Our blend of computer science and math courses will give you the foundation you need to master key concepts in this multifaceted field. You'll apply your skills to help address problems in physical and biological phenomena, in human behavior, social, financial and business systems.

Interior design
Interior designers use their talents and expertise to transform and enhance society. As an interior design student at Suffolk University, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to influence the way people live, work, play, grow, move, and bond. Innovation and creative problem solving, protection of natural resources, attention to building codes and laws, and understanding human behavior will all play a role in your work.

As a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in interior design, you'll develop a comprehensive knowledge of design theory, history, and communication and design skills. Your studies will explore sustainable and socially conscious design, lighting, and furniture design, as well as code adherence and professional practices. You’ll also develop fluency in the two- and three-dimensional design software and computer hardware contemporary designers use.

Studying interior design here is truly immersive. You'll find endless inspiration in Boston's interior landscapes. Our city is filled with Victorian brownstones, industrial lofts, and every style in between—all with their own distinctive look inside. Along with these inspiring spaces, Boston is home to many prestigious interior design and architectural firms. Boston's showrooms and galleries also love working with Suffolk interns.
