Sociology is a social science that studies our behavior as social beings. It covers everything from the analysis of short contacts between anonymous individuals to the study of global social processes. Often, sociologists are driven to understand and improve the lives of others.

Concentration in Crime and Justice
Criminal justice will provide you with a rigorous study of criminal justice systems and community responses to crime. Our interactive approach to learning focuses on fostering an understanding of crime and the principles of social scientific research. Throughout your studies, you will examine how illegal behavior is defined, with special attention to how social inequalities of race, class, gender, sexuality, and age shape what is seen as crime and what is seen as justice. Biology

Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Broadcast
In the broadcast journalism concentration, you’ll gain invaluable experience in our capstone course Suffolk U News. Internships are also vital. Suffolk students regularly work at New England Cable News, PBS, and the local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and Fox News and ESPN.

You’ll learn advertising industry basics, including how to create ads and plan campaigns that appeal to industry brands and nonprofits' target markets. You’ll build ads from the ground up, writing copy and designing visual elements. Plus, you'll study the fundamentals of media planning and buying as they apply to television, radio, print, online, and social media advertising.
