Suffolk University's biology major is especially collaborative and career-focused. Many of your classes will have fewer than 20 students, and you'll benefit from your professors' individual attention, thanks to our low faculty-to-student ratio.

At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.

Concentration in Health Careers
This concentration prepares you for post-graduate programs in healthcare fields such as medicine, physician assistant, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nurse practitioner, physical therapy, pharmacy, and others. You can tailor your coursework for your graduate program of choice while still getting a solid grounding in biology.

Whether you see yourself doing environmental research on rainforests, advocating for better air-quality policies, or working in government, you can explore these interests as an environmental studies major.

Concentration in Urban Environmentalism
You’ll learn to be an interdisciplinary problem-solver, drawing from the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of complex environmental issues. Focus your studies with a concentration in environmental policy or urban environmentalism. Information systems are at the center of all businesses, big and small, and the demand for information systems professionals is growing as companies use advanced technologies to manage operations around the world.

A major in information systems (IS) will prepare you for a career in systems analysis, operations management, information systems, and information technology. Master of Laws - Global Law and Technology
Breakthroughs in science, technology, and communication have resulted in legal challenges never before faced--challenges of global proportions for tomorrow's leaders. Suffolk Law's LLM in Global Law and Technology will help you meet these challenges and prepare for the future practice of law.

Journalism matters. Learn to report the news across print and digital platforms at Suffolk University. Whether you concentrate in broadcast journalism or print/web journalism, you'll earn a degree that's in-demand and invaluable to your career and grad school plans.

Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Broadcast
In the broadcast journalism concentration, you’ll gain invaluable experience in our capstone course Suffolk U News. Internships are also vital. Suffolk students regularly work at New England Cable News, PBS, and the local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and Fox News and ESPN.

The general Master of Laws program is for students who have already completed a law degree and want to enhance their legal skills by focusing on a particular field or an emerging area of law.

Launched in 2012 to capitalize on the depth and breadth of Suffolk Law's curriculum, this LLM offers you maximum flexibility. You can create your own track in a field of your choosing or select courses from Suffolk's recognized areas of expertise, including dispute resolution and civil litigation, business law and financial services, biomedical and health law, intellectual property, or international law.

Global and Cultural Communication
Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.

You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.

Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. You'll also explore emerging trends in global, ethical, legal, political communication, and social justice issues in the context of cultural theory.

Psychology
Psychology is essentially the study of what makes us tick—the examination of mental processes and human behavior across the lifespan and across cultures. Suffolk’s approach to psychology is holistic: You’ll examine the neurological components of the brain and also study the way societies and circumstances cause different behaviors.
