Global and Cultural Communication
Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.
You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.
Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. You'll also explore emerging trends in global, ethical, legal, political communication, and social justice issues in the context of cultural theory.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Financial Wealth Management
Suffolk’s Wealth Management major combines courses in finance, investment analysis, risk management, and retirement, estate, and financial planning to help you build strong analytical and decision-making skills. When you graduate, you will be prepared for a career in wealth management with a major firm, or to start your own wealth management business, helping individuals and companies plan for their financial futures. In addition, because the wealth management curriculum meets Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board requirements, you will be eligible to take the CFP exam.

Bachelor of Arts in History
To be a history major, you need to be curious. An INTO Suffolk Pathway program will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Suffolk University. Upon successful completion of an INTO Suffolk Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, students may enter their second semester of graduate study at Suffolk University. This transition from an INTO Suffolk Pathway program to a university degree program is called progression.
Master in Management and Organizational Leadership
Whether you’re starting out in the job market or are preparing to move upward in your established field, you’re going to need to distinguish yourself in the eyes of employers. With a Master in Management and Organizational Leadership, you can develop all the skills needed to hit the ground running in a leadership role.
Suffolk’s MMOL curriculum is purpose-built to teach you how to think like a leader and ground you in organizational behavior, negotiation, interpersonal skills, leadership, team-building, conflict resolution, successful management of people and projects, and to get first-hand exposure to global business practices with a required travel seminar. The MMOL program prepares you to excel in a variety of leadership roles such as human resource specialist, operations manager, contract administrator, training and development manager, project coordinator, and more.

Bachelor of Arts in Biology with Concentration in Marine Science (STEM)
Suffolk University's biology major is especially collaborative and career-focused. Many of your classes will have fewer than 20 students, and you'll benefit from your professors' individual attention, thanks to our low faculty-to-student ratio.
Your experiences in our classrooms and labs will teach you scientific research methods and reporting; your experiences interning at Boston's premier hospitals and research facilities will deepen your knowledge and broaden your network.
At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.
Concentration in Marine Science
This concentration prepares you for a career as a marine biologist, conservationist, zoologist, and other fields related to ecology. It is immersive and features courses taught through the Marine Studies Consortium (MSC), a collaborative organization of 16 local institutions.
