Interior design
Interior designers use their talents and expertise to transform and enhance society. As an interior design student at Suffolk University, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to influence the way people live, work, play, grow, move, and bond. Innovation and creative problem solving, protection of natural resources, attention to building codes and laws, and understanding human behavior will all play a role in your work.

As a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in interior design, you'll develop a comprehensive knowledge of design theory, history, and communication and design skills. Your studies will explore sustainable and socially conscious design, lighting, and furniture design, as well as code adherence and professional practices. You’ll also develop fluency in the two- and three-dimensional design software and computer hardware contemporary designers use.

Psychology
Psychology is essentially the study of what makes us tick—the examination of mental processes and human behavior across the lifespan and across cultures. Suffolk’s approach to psychology is holistic: You’ll examine the neurological components of the brain and also study the way societies and circumstances cause different behaviors. To be a history major, you need to be curious. You’ll become an investigator into the minds, motivations, and movements that shaped our world, all while studying in one of the most historic cities on earth. At Suffolk, you’ll sharpen your analytical and critical-thinking skills to interpret the past, contextualize the present, and frame the future.

You'll customize your studies by selecting a concentration in either United States history, regional and global histories, or public history. Whichever you choose, you won't just study history: you'll engage with it. Sociology is a social science that studies our behavior as social beings. It covers everything from the analysis of short contacts between anonymous individuals to the study of global social processes. Often, sociologists are driven to understand and improve the lives of others.

The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. In advanced seminars, you'll delve into the works of the great philosophers—Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and others.

Journalism matters. Learn to report the news across print and digital platforms at Suffolk University. Whether you concentrate in broadcast journalism or print/web journalism, you'll earn a degree that's in-demand and invaluable to your career and grad school plans.

Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Broadcast
In the broadcast journalism concentration, you’ll gain invaluable experience in our capstone course Suffolk U News. Internships are also vital. Suffolk students regularly work at New England Cable News, PBS, and the local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and Fox News and ESPN.

Theatre
Suffolk's Theatre Department is student-centered. We'll help you shine, whether you choose to act; write, direct, and design your own original plays; master stage or arts management; intern with leading theatre companies in Boston and abroad; and so much more. Our students work in classic, musical, and experimental genres with a special focus on new work.

Radiation Science
The radiation science major emphasizes laboratory and research training rather than clinical training, making it ideal preparation for medical research careers and graduate study. By integrating the study of biology, radiation, physics, chemistry, and mathematics, our well-rounded program prepares you for a career in healthcare or any of the sciences. Majors in the program have the opportunity to complete an internship at a regional healthcare facility, including the possibility of interning at a top medical center, even though clinical training isn't a requirement of this program.
