As a computer science major at Suffolk University, you'll study new ways of thinking and problem-solving. You'll analyze data and then model your results, and recognize patterns—all thanks to computers' increased power and advancements in software.

Finance
The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Our trading room provides a simulated environment where you can analyze the latest stock quotes and compare currency exchange rates, just as professional traders do.

Suffolk’s English majors explore the powerful connections between literary themes and modern issues. You’ll learn to articulate strong points of view, compose your thoughts in an organized and creative way, identify major literary themes, and draw lessons from groundbreaking works that illuminate aspects of the human condition.

You’ll benefit from Suffolk’s proximity to the Boston Public Library, the country’s first large public library. Boston has been home to legendary writers for generations, including Emerson, Alcott, Thoreau, and Plath. Now, it's your turn to make your literary mark!

Concentration in Literature
In the Literature Concertation, you can take a wide variety of classes spanning from survey courses that explore foundational texts of the British and American literary canon along with intellectually stimulating and wide-ranging upper-level electives that focus on diverse writers and engage with multifaceted literary topics and various genres. Small class sizes foster lively classroom discussions and will allow you to benefit from individual attention from professors.

Global and Cultural Communication
Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.

You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.

Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. You'll also explore emerging trends in global, ethical, legal, political communication, and social justice issues in the context of cultural theory.

Master in Management and Organizational Leadership
Whether you’re starting out in the job market or are preparing to move upward in your established field, you’re going to need to distinguish yourself in the eyes of employers. With a Master in Management and Organizational Leadership, you can develop all the skills needed to hit the ground running in a leadership role.

Suffolk’s MMOL curriculum is purpose-built to teach you how to think like a leader and ground you in organizational behavior, negotiation, interpersonal skills, leadership, team-building, conflict resolution, successful management of people and projects, and to get first-hand exposure to global business practices with a required travel seminar. The MMOL program prepares you to excel in a variety of leadership roles such as human resource specialist, operations manager, contract administrator, training and development manager, project coordinator, and more.

Suffolk University's biology major is especially collaborative and career-focused. Many of your classes will have fewer than 20 students, and you'll benefit from your professors' individual attention, thanks to our low faculty-to-student ratio.

Your experiences in our classrooms and labs will teach you scientific research methods and reporting; your experiences interning at Boston's premier hospitals and research facilities will deepen your knowledge and broaden your network.

At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. With a major in management, you’ll learn how to work collaboratively and lead effectively in today’s competitive global marketplace.

Classes like the Management Senior Capstone Project Course let you test your business knowledge. You’ll spend a semester working through business challenges for an actual client. After weeks of intensive research, group meetings, and client interviews, you'll present your business recommendations to senior-level executives.

You’ll graduate an innovative, creative, and effective problem solver, who’s ready to manage many different types of organizations. And you’ll have the confidence to lead diverse teams that encompass different cultural, ethical, political, and behavioral perspectives.

Like chemistry, our biochemistry program follows a coursework sequence endorsed by the American Chemical Society (ACS), which is highly respected distinction as you go on to graduate and professional work. You can also join Suffolk's award-winning student chapters of the ACS, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), or our Health Professions Club. These clubs enjoy activities ranging from invited scientist lectures to community service projects. You might also volunteer at the nearby Museum of Science or at the Cambridge Science Festival. Additionally, opportunities are available to attend the national meetings of the ACS and ASBMB to learn about current research from experts in the field and even present your research in a national forum.

More than half of our recent graduates go on to work as lab technicians and research assistants in academic, biotech/pharma, and hospital labs. Many other alumni go on to health professional schools to become nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and doctors, or to a variety of graduate programs in biochemistry, food science, and pharmacology.

Risk Management
Master quantitative and strategic risk management skills to manage exposure to credit, market, liquidity, foreign exchange, interest rate, operational, country, and business risk.
