Management
Effective managers are vital to the success of every organization-from small start-up companies to multi-national corporations.  Why? Because managers are the ones who skillfully coordinate and control the activities of the organization to achieve business goals.  At the core of good management is the need to know how to attract, motivate and reward the best and brightest people.  Management is also about effective alignment.  Organizations are complicated systems that rely on the effective coordination of people, technology and organizational processes to be successful.  Managers drive this alignment through their skills of strategic thinking, strong communications and employee motivation to create business value.

Today’s business environment requires graduates who can effectively evaluate and make decisions, lead employees and manage resources. Management is ideal for people who like big picture thinking, can understand how processes work, have a passion for problem-solving and who can multi-task effectively to help create value for the organization. Management is also a great place to start for entrepreneurs interested in starting their own businesses.

Students joining our Integrated Master Program (IMP) will benefit from a degree-seeking I-20 while still receiving the additional support provided by INTO UAB, from the day they apply through their first semester on campus. Pre-arrival questions get answered. Travel fears get addressed. Help with everything from tutoring to career guidance—at the ready for IMP students.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is the most wellknown Public Health degree. It is considered a “terminal” or “professional” degree, as it fully prepares individuals for lifelong careers in public health practice without the need for additional education. 

Maternal and Child Health Policy and Leadership - Concentration
The Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health Policy and Leadership is designed to educate individuals who will plan, administer, and evaluate programs in maternal and child health. The program provides information about the special problems faced by women and children — including children and youth with special health care needs — and their families. It develops and integrates skills from maternal and child health policy and leadership and demonstrate their application in problem solving and systems development.

Social Work
If you want to help people, consider a social work degree, and learn how to make a difference in some of the world's most difficult challenges—poverty, addiction, physical and mental illness, discrimination, and loss. In the process, find out how to turn social work into a career.

To begin with, we'll teach you about values, welfare, human behavior, social environments, and research. You'll get to explore topics like social and economic justice for populations at risk. Then you'll complete a practicum, giving you real-world experience working at an actual social service agency. Because, when you graduate, we want you to have everything you need to start a career in social work. That means you can do more than make a living for yourself—you can change lives. You can make a difference.

The Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) program is divided into two tracks:

• The Thesis Track program is designed to prepare students to pursue doctoral-level study in criminology, criminal justice, or a related field. Students selecting this option are required to complete a thesis project under a faculty adviser.
• The Non-Thesis Track program is geared toward working professionals and designed to provide to them advanced training in such areas as research methods, program evaluation, and policy analysis. Students selecting this option are required to complete a Demonstration Project and are strongly encouraged to complete a field placement (Internship).

The MPH with a concentration in Health Behavior addresses the behavioral, social, and cultural factors related to individual and population health and health disparities. Our program emphasizes the importance of community-based participatory research and the application of findings through a variety of behavioral and social science health promotion strategies. Classes are designed to be engaging, interactive, and relevant to current health behavior issues.

Our students have the opportunity to enhance their skills in:

• Applying social and behavioral science theories to public health problems;
• Developing evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs;
• Applying principles of evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs;
• Demonstrating an understanding of the ethical standards of public health research and practice; and
• Evaluating the literature concerning individual and social influences on health behavior.

It's amazing what our bodies can achieve, and in the kinesiology program, you'll study how a person can stay healthy and physically fit. Your degree could lead to a career as a physical education teacher, physical therapist, or occupational therapist.

To begin, you're first going to choose a concentration based on your goals. If you concentrate in exercise science, you'll study topics such as exercise physiology, metabolism, body composition, and biomechanics. With a fitness leadership concentration, your coursework will prepare you for a career as an instructor or fitness director. Interested in exercise bioenergetics? We'll cover human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, weight training, nutrition, and more. Finally, if you choose physical education with a teacher certification, we'll complement your classwork with a student teaching experience.

Environmental and Occupational Health - Concentration
Environmental health professionals must be able to recognize, evaluate, and control environmental and occupational risk factors that may lead to disease. The Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health is intended to study the links between environmental and occupational stressors and human health from exposure and toxicant action to science-based risk assessment and policy development. We train students to recognize and assess environmental and occupational exposures, determine the toxicity risk to the humans, and design and properly communicate strategies to reduce risk and help set appropriate policy. Students should also be able to develop strategies and management policies for the prevention of occupational injury and disease. The mandatory internship is intended to introduce the students to real-life experience in environmental and occupational health and to give them tools necessary for problems solving in the field.

Our goal is to enable students to:

• Explain environmental and occupational health theories and apply them to public health problems.
• Create risk assessment approaches based on target populations.
• Apply environmental justice principles in community and occupational settings.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the regulatory policies and agencies that influence environmental and occupational health issues.
• Evaluate the literature concerning environmental factors impacting human health.
