The Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) program is divided into two tracks:

• The Thesis Track program is designed to prepare students to pursue doctoral-level study in criminology, criminal justice, or a related field. Students selecting this option are required to complete a thesis project under a faculty adviser.
• The Non-Thesis Track program is geared toward working professionals and designed to provide to them advanced training in such areas as research methods, program evaluation, and policy analysis. Students selecting this option are required to complete a Demonstration Project and are strongly encouraged to complete a field placement (Internship).

Genetic and Genome Sciences
Genetics is a fundamental aspect of all biological processes and affects all facets of our lives. Understanding and analyzing the function and behavior of genes is critical to improving the quality of life for human beings and has far-reaching implications for our entire global ecosystem.

Traditionally viewed as a discipline within biological sciences, today, the study of genetics and genomics is an interdisciplinary exercise that involves multiple fields, including computational sciences and information systems.
It is also a rapidly advancing field in research and training. With the ever-increasing use of genetic tests, and of whole genome sequence information for disease diagnostics, there is a high demand for qualified and experienced genetics researchers and health-related professionals. The UAB Undergraduate Program in Genetics and Genomic Sciences (GGS) is designed to nurture a new generation of UAB undergraduates who will be ideally equipped to pursue and succeed in a career in academic or government research, medicine, biotechnology in industry, and other health-related sciences.

Health Care Management
The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management (HCM) was established at UAB in 1982. The degree offers a pathway into entry and mid?level management careers for some and serves as a foundation for success in graduate?level academic or professional degree programs for others.
A successful healthcare practice not only has great providers—doctors, nurses, optometrists, dentists, and the like—it has high quality management. Our Health Care Management degree helps provide a pathway for students who want to go into mid-level management careers or continue onto a graduate program.

We designed this program for aspiring leaders, like you, who want to improve healthcare systems, including in hospitals, managed care organizations, medical group practices, consulting firms, government agencies, non-profits, and other companies in ambulatory, long-term care, insurance, and pharmaceutical. We have several concentrations to choose from depending on your academic work, current professional status, personal interests, and future goals. You'll also have the opportunity to earn your master's in occupational therapy, health informatics, or health-care quality and safety through our fast-track program.

Industrial Distribution
The Charles and Patsy Collat Industrial Distribution (ID) Program is a rare degree program that puts you at the center of one of the fastest growing fields in business.  Distribution professionals manage the flow of materials from manufacturers to distributors to customers- which means they play a key role in propelling the economy forward by supplying the building blocks for the products America creates and the world buys. Industrial distributors supply government, industry, and manufacturers, with products necessary for business and health care operations.

Graduates are prepared for careers with manufacturers or distributors in technical industries for sales engineering, logistics, marketing, inventory and purchasing positions as well as branch management.

Music
With a music degree, you can learn more than how to make a beautiful, artistic sound—you can learn all about music technology, composition, theory, and more. With your passion and degree, you can pursue jobs in music production, teaching, or performing.

To start on the right note, you will need to determine your music career goal. In addition to your regular coursework, we'll encourage you to audition for various student performances. We have many ensembles and other performance opportunities for you to choose from. If you concentrate on music technology, we'll ask you to do an internship. If you focus on music education, we'll want you to complete the necessary requirements to teach K-12. Either way, your advisor will be there to help you every step of the way.

Have you ever wondered how you can harness your reading, writing, and language skills into a lucrative career? With an English degree from UAB, you can learn how powerful expression and communication can be in the worlds of media, law, medicine, and many more.

In fact, practically every job you can imagine depends on communication. That's why our program is so diverse. You can choose to learn the science behind the English language, study the greatest authors of all time, hone your creative writing skills, or prepare to write in a professional setting. Civil Engineering
Creative thinkers like you are essential to establishing and maintaining the framework of productive communities, from roads and buildings to air quality and soil erosion control. In our program, we can teach you how to design, construct, and evaluate all kinds of infrastructure as a civil engineer.

Your road to a career will begin with an intensive curriculum that includes structural engineering, environmental engineering, transportation engineering, and construction engineering management. Plus, you can choose the Sustainable Engineering Design and Concentration to earn more experience in this growing area of civil engineering. Best of all, we offer study-abroad trips so you can earn academic credit while exploring a new culture. Interested in teaching? You can earn a teaching certification in mathematics through UABTeach. Community Health and Human Services
A healthy community doesn't just happen—it takes education, coaching, program development, and, most important, people who care to make a difference. At UAB, you'll gain a full understanding of the human body and prepare for a career helping others live healthy lives.

As you begin the program, we'll sit down with you to help you determine your career goals. Based on those goals, you'll choose a concentration of either community health or human services. In community health, you'll learn about policies, programs, anatomy, and nutrition for the well-being of both individuals and communities. If you choose human services, which is offered both online and on campus, we'll cover topics such as case management, public policy, and intervention.
