Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. In the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program with a Law and Public Policy emphasis, students prepare for a career as a change-maker in law, as a government official as they study not only the foundations of political theory, institutions, international relations, foreign affairs and more, but also the how-to of making policy and progress happen. Students develop powerful analytical, argumentation and communication skills, and have access to internships at nonprofit organizations and government agencies, such as the Arizona Legislature and the Arizona Superior Court, and local and state politicians' campaigns.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis in Photography, Video and Imaging encourages students to conduct a rigorous investigation into the nature and meaning of photographic representation and its role in contemporary culture. Students demonstrate commitment to expressive inquiry, develop maturity of vision and take responsibility for their professional development as artists. The program offers a progressive approach to the practice of photography, asking students to question and expand the boundaries of the medium. Students take courses in traditional black-and-white darkroom techniques, digital and other image-forming technologies, color processes, large-scale photography, video and performance.

Take your love of sports beyond the scoreboard by honing an understanding of the complex systems in social, economic, racial or otherwise at play. The Bachelor of General Studies with a Sports and Society emphasis examines the broader economic, political, religious, cultural, ethnic and social systems that apply to the world of sports. Coursework helps students grasp theories regarding teams and group dynamics in sports. This includes issues related to cultural, gender and socioeconomic diversity, as well as those related to the role that sports plays in society. Students gain fundamental skills in economics, accounting and general management theory, plus a finely tuned ability to evaluate multiple perspectives on social and cultural change as they relate to sports.

The Science and Pre-professional emphasis relies heavily on science courses, from animal anatomy to cell biology. If you want an immersion in Spanish dedicated to the scientific study of the language, consider the Hispanic Linguistics emphasis.  Linguistics is the study of language, including its structure, organization, sounds and meaning. In addition to language proficiency, students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Hispanic Linguistics emphasis gain a thorough understanding of Spanish language framework. Classes in phonetics, morphosyntax, sociolinguistics and more teach students how the brain formulates and organizes Spanish. These courses provide a foundation for application to pedagogical issues in teaching the language as well as societal challenges in bilingual communities. If you're interested in environmental health, protection of natural resources, and safety for workers and communities, consider a Public Health major with an Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis. Public health professionals specializing in environmental and occupational health help protect communities and workers from health risks such as contaminates or hazardous living or working conditions. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Students choosing the Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis focus on environmental justice, public health preparedness, industrial impact, sanitation, and safety fundamentals. Undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience.
