Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Literacy, Learning and Leadership fill lead roles in a wide range of fields, including volunteer programming, nonprofit work, youth services, and community education and outreach. Environmental engineering students learn ways to minimize pollutants and waste and protect the earth's resources. Environmental engineers develop methods for clean manufacturing, wastewater treatment and water purification, alternative energy, and sustainable building. Students earning their Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering at the University of Arizona work under the umbrella of the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department, gaining in-depth knowledge of process engineering for transforming waste into useful products and cleaning up contaminants in soil and groundwater. Arizona is one of only a handful of institutions nationwide to offer this setup. Learn to speak, read and understand Japanese fluently as an essential and transferable skill for those who wish to pursue a career in the global economy.The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies allows students to focus on one of two areas: language or culture. The Japanese Language Intensive emphasis teaches language proficiency on three levels, from beginning to advanced, as well as offers specialized instruction in advanced reading, writing and conversation. Students might be asked to take a placement exam to determine their level. Upon graduation, students can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with Japanese speakers. They also display competency in reading materials in Japanese. Additionally, the program provides enriching opportunities for study abroad.

The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. Work with internationally renowned Latin American scholars on critical topics facing these communities, such as gender issues, health at the border and environmental concerns. This program delves into the languages, cultures, history and politics of Latin America. The Bachelor of Arts emphasizes community engagement, foreign language acquisition and international relations. This degree pairs well as a second major to almost any other degree program at the University of Arizona, from business and public health to journalism and food studies. If you want an immersion in Spanish dedicated to the scientific study of the language, consider the Hispanic Linguistics emphasis.  Linguistics is the study of language, including its structure, organization, sounds and meaning. In addition to language proficiency, students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Hispanic Linguistics emphasis gain a thorough understanding of Spanish language framework. Classes in phonetics, morphosyntax, sociolinguistics and more teach students how the brain formulates and organizes Spanish. These courses provide a foundation for application to pedagogical issues in teaching the language as well as societal challenges in bilingual communities. If you enjoy seeing the world and making a difference for others, the Public Health major with a Global Health emphasis will be a good fit. Global health professionals work in settings all over the world to help prevent the spread of disease, deploy clean water initiatives, and support communities in times of natural disasters. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science with a major in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Under the Global Health emphasis, one of several emphasis options, students explore sanitation, global food supplies, epidemiology and more. Plus, they complete an internship in their area of interest.
