Follow in the footsteps of past and present feminist icons to become a leader in the movement toward gender equality across all fronts. Founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, the Gender and Women's Studies department at the University of Arizona stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum. The Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary program that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Small class sizes encourage students to interact closely to learn the ways in which gender shapes society, culture, history, the economy and politics in the U.S. This approach to scholarship builds critical thinking, reading, writing and research skills. This B.A. relies heavily on both collaborative engagement and independent study, and students are encouraged to get involved in community organizations.

Enrich your understanding of our increasingly interconnected world, transcending the constraints of place, race and gender to communicate universal messages and themes. Global Studies teaches students to think critically about global issues from a variety of disciplines. This Bachelor of Arts uses intellectual and experiential frameworks to empower students to analyze, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Literature Arts and Film emphasis educates future leaders of the new global society, a role that requires a high level of intercultural and multilingual competence. Students discover the critical part that cultural production plays in the international landscape and equips them with the skills to shape that landscape. Students become adaptable to unfamiliar environments and are able to assess cultural differences in professional settings and communicate well with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Engage in the process of making art, and also in the critical dialogue that explores how art communicates important messages to the rest of the world. The Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art embraces a workshop-structured approach to coursework, which is designed as an experiential initiation into professional artistic practice, creative methodology and studio work ethic. Students make art, discuss how and what art communicates to others, and learn strategies to sharpen the connection been an art object and its meanings. Faculty members work closely with students from the generation of an idea through the realization of the object. Integrated projects, rather than isolated design exercises, encourage personal investment. The focus of the program is to foster inventive and resourceful students who can express complicated ideas in a manner that is technically and conceptually sophisticated.

Students who pursue the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Business Economics graduate with an economist perspective and a solid foundation in business. Are you a practicing paramedic seeking your four-year degree? Consider the Emergency Medical Services program to bolster your training. The Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the University of Arizona's College of Medicine is designed for certified paramedics who are practicing at the state or national level. Students majoring in EMS will gain advanced training in leadership and critical care for both adult and pediatric patients from courses taught by experienced emergency medicine and EMS physicians. They'll expand their knowledge in EMS systems, disaster response, special operations, EMS medical and legal concerns, and EMS care in rural, wilderness and other limited-resource settings. This fully online program is designed to accommodate working paramedics and learners who are outside of Arizona or deployed. This program requires paramedic certification; an associate degree from community college is not required.

Mexican American Studies examines the Mexican American experience as informed by social and health sciences, history, law and humanities. Current U.S. demographic trends show that Mexican Americans live and work in the Southwest, the Midwest and the South, and many of these communities need people who are knowledgeable about the challenges and trajectories of Mexican Americans. The Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Development prepares students for careers and graduate training in a variety of fields, such as human services, social policy, community and public health, counseling, social work, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, gerontology, child/elder advocacy, criminal justice/law, and child life specialist professions. Students explore topics such as adolescence, child development, family relationships, mental health, counseling and youth programs in both traditional classroom settings and real-world situations. During the program, each student partners with faculty to acquire firsthand experience working with families and individuals in many contexts. Additionally, the program offers a network of community agencies that provide internships and hands-on learning to ensure that, upon graduation, students are well equipped to meet challenges head-on.
