Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

Learning Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate the ability to conduct a research project using appropriate and ethical methods, including proper citation of sources.
• Students will establish the ability to exercise the four key techniques of computational thinking (decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms) in solving information and data challenges.

The conservatory-style program for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Production with a Professional Actors Training Program emphasis prepares students to embark on a career as a working actor. Small class sizes allow faculty to focus individualized attention on students, encouraging collaboration and experimentation. Classes include eight semesters of Stanislavsky-based acting training; four semesters of voice and movement; stage combat classes; audition technique courses; screen acting classes; and professional development and business acumen that culminate in a showcase for leading industry professionals in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and major regional markets.

Explore the foundations of criminal justice ?thoroughly examining critical topics such as mental health law, youth in the justice system, public policy and national security. Criminal Justice Studies touches on all factors related to crime, the law and the justice system. Coursework introduces students to police, court and corrections operations; crime and public policy; juvenile justice; mental health law; white-collar crime; national security; and intelligence policies. Sponsored by the Rombach Institute on Crime, Delinquency and Corrections, this Bachelor of Science program helps students develop the ability to think critically about criminal justice issues, a necessity in an increasingly complex and politicized society. Other career-ready skills that students develop throughout their course studies include leadership, ethics and management.

The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Controlled Environment Agriculture track cultivate technologies to efficiently produce plants and plant-based products. Students learn how to use environmentally, socially and economically sustainable growing systems in arid lands and urban settings. Thanks to the university's location in Tucson, this interdisciplinary program pioneers the study of arid agriculture. The discoveries made here offer farmers and leaders around the world solutions to growing more, improving yields and reducing pest problems, all while using less land, chemicals and water. Students graduate with a science-based foundation, prepared to advance the industry of modern agriculture.

The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. The program enhances students' artistic development with coursework that promotes conceptual investigation and an understanding of contemporary issues through the exploration of diverse media. Take advantage of individualized instruction that focuses on your unique needs as an oboist and teaches practical skills for a fruitful career. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an Oboe emphasis learn in a variety of settings: private lessons, weekly master classes, weekly reed labs, large ensembles, chamber music and guest-artists master classes. In addition to the Fred Fox School of Music's highly personalized instruction in a supportive learning environment, oboe students get access to the school's professional recording studio and reed workshop, where they can utilize reed-making tools, including top-quality gouging and shaping equipment. The school is home to two orchestras, two wind ensembles, the Pride of Arizona Marching Band and the University of Arizona Jazz Ensemble, among others.

Develop a comprehensive education in Arabic, from language proficiency to cultural knowledge of Arabic society, at one of the top programs in the U.S. Arabic studies introduce students to the richness and importance of Arabic culture. Offered by the School of Middle Eastern & North African Studies, this Bachelor of Arts program makes an excellent double major, preparing students for successful international careers. As students become proficient in Arabic - widely considered a critical language for the U.S. - they also learn dialects such as Moroccan and Egyptian. Additionally, students gain knowledge of Arabic society, arts and literature, with opportunities to study abroad in Arab-speaking countries. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Foreign Affairs uses humanistic and scientific perspectives to examine relationships among societies in countries and regions around the world. Students are introduced to concepts in politics, policy issues and the structure of governments. For those interested in law, civil service or foreign service, the Foreign Affairs emphasis is a good fit. It combines coursework from international relations and comparative politics, along with the basics of political science. Students develop foreign language proficiency and pursue foreign work or study experience.

Learn how to communicate through art with a course of study that sharpens your technical ability while defining your concepts. The 2D emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art asks students to specialize in one of two areas: Painting & Drawing, or Printmaking. Students develop skills in their specialization through courses that advance contemporary and historical awareness of the discipline. Faculty members from Painting, Drawing and Printmaking are committed to interdisciplinary approaches. Students enjoy printmaking facilities offering traditional and technologically based processes, and can use oil, acrylic and dry media in the painting and drawing facilities. Elective courses provide students with a chance to explore subjects inside and outside their areas of emphasis, such as collage, installation and watercolor.
