Mexican American Studies examines the Mexican American experience as informed by social and health sciences, history, law and humanities. Students in this Bachelor of Arts major gain insight into how government and public policy, minority health disparities, urban planning, law, immigration, language and more affect the Mexican American population. Current U.S. demographic trends show that Mexican Americans live and work in the Southwest, the Midwest and the South, and many of these communities need people who are knowledgeable about the challenges and trajectories of Mexican Americans. Students with this degree are in key positions to inform, direct and contribute to a progressive future

Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

This program helps you cultivate your craft as a costume designer, tech director, stage manager and more. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Production with an emphasis in Design and Technical Production offers comprehensive training for students who seek careers in the professional theatre. This training includes a balance of academic study of theatre and practical production experience in one or more of three performance spaces. Students select from seven areas of focus: costume design, costume production, lighting design and production, stage management, sound design, scenic design, and technical direction. Classes provide hands-on, real-world, practical application of skills through onstage productions throughout the duration of the program. Students study with acclaimed faculty members who are actively working professionally in the field.

If you're interested in environmental health, protection of natural resources, and safety for workers and communities, consider a Public Health major with an Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis. Public health professionals specializing in environmental and occupational health help protect communities and workers from health risks such as contaminates or hazardous living or working conditions. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Students choosing the Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis focus on environmental justice, public health preparedness, industrial impact, sanitation, and safety fundamentals. Undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience. Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis students wishing to also earn their Master of Public Health can do so in an accelerated program.

Whether students aim to address broader economic issues or prefer to focus on banking, finance or economic forecasting, their skill set will be in high demand.

Develop the skills and knowledge to help guide the world toward a sustainable future. Biosystems engineers help protect the health and well-being of humans, wildlife and the Earth. Students earning the Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Engineering collaborate with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and several College of Engineering degree programs. They study ways to sustainably feed an ever-growing world population, harness and preserve natural resources, and overcome environmental challenges. Students are immersed in design throughout their undergraduate experience. The future depends on biosystems engineers working in fields such as agriculture, water conservation and renewable energy.

Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program helps students cultivate clear and strong communication skills (writing, argumentation and presentation) as well as analytical abilities. Students examine the foundations of political science: theory, processes, principles, institutions, law, policy, international relations, foreign affairs, and ideas and methods. Students are encouraged to pursue opportunities outside of the classroom, such as internships at nonprofit organizations and government agencies, including the Arizona Legislature, the Arizona Superior Court and politicians' campaigns.
