To get a play from page to stage takes the creativity of a whole team of behind-the-scenes players. This program helps you cultivate your craft as a costume designer, tech director, stage manager and more. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Production with an emphasis in Design and Technical Production offers comprehensive training for students who seek careers in the professional theatre. This training includes a balance of academic study of theatre and practical production experience in one or more of three performance spaces. Students select from seven areas of focus: costume design, costume production, lighting design and production, stage management, sound design, scenic design, and technical direction. Classes provide hands-on, real-world, practical application of skills through onstage productions throughout the duration of the program. Students study with acclaimed faculty members who are actively working professionally in the field.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Students earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts receive a broad-based education of the theatrical arts. Students learn to appreciate the relationship of dramatic text to theatrical production; understand the working practices and standards of the professional theatre; communicate artistic intent through acting, directing, design and research; and learn how to organize resources to facilitate the theatrical production process. Coursework stresses critical thinking in verbal and written communication; employs theatre as a lens through which to examine cultural trends; encourages students to develop projects that merge theory and practical applications; and explores the vitality of theatre as a communal expression of gender and cultural diversity.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science offers an emphasis in Soil, Air and Water. Students who opt for this track gain a broad scientific understanding of human influence on the natural world, from the molecular level to a global scale. Through work in classrooms, in labs and in the field, students learn how to properly collect soil, water and air samples, identify and implement appropriate analytical techniques, and interpret results. The Fred Fox School of Music ranks among the nation's top musical institutions. Classes include voice, music reading, diction for singers and more. As part of their conducted large-ensemble requirement, vocalists usually begin by singing in the University Singers/Kantorei and Honor Choir.
