The Fred Fox School of Music brings together faculty and students in an environment where students receive an education in music technique and performance while enjoying personalized guidance and mentoring. Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Guitar take classes in instrument technique as well as practical courses in sound mixing and recording. Students attend concerts, workshops, lectures, clinics and master classes, many taught by visiting artists and scholars. Graduates embark on careers as performers and educators in a variety of fields.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Music in Performance with Emphasis in Euphonium
When music informs everything you do from who you are to what you love embark on a degree that sets you up for success in the field of music performance and advances your euphonium skills. Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Euphonium can take advantage of the Fred Fox School of Music's two concert bands, a select wind ensemble, two jazz bands, numerous jazz combos and a large and challenging orchestra program. In addition to these performance opportunities, students benefit from personalized attention and instruction. This includes a weekly lesson, a studio class, daily warm-ups and technique classes, plus ensemble and chamber coaching. The School of Music averages between 450 and 550 students, which provides opportunities that are typically only offered at larger schools of music.

How do social movements start? How do leaders gain power? Can governments run efficiently? Gain insight into these topics and more with a degree that explores political ideas. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. When students embark on a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Ideas and Methods, they focus on theoretical questions that lead to real-world change. Students explore the processes, principles and structures of government and political institutions in the U.S. and in countries around the globe. Coursework covers international relations, political theory, foreign affairs, methodology and institutions, and includes hands-on internship opportunities at nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Students graduate with important writing, critical thinking and analytical skills.

This Bachelor of Science is for the student planning to pursue graduate study or a career in ecology and evolutionary biology, or a related scientific field. The Bachelor of Arts prepares students for careers that require having scientific knowledge, such as scientific journalism, developing environmental and scientific policy or practicing law in related fields. The curriculum includes core courses in genetics, ecology and evolution, with additional study through involvement in independent research, usually by working in the labs of our faculty. Students also have access to certain field courses.

Explore the foundations of criminal justice ?thoroughly examining critical topics such as mental health law, youth in the justice system, public policy and national security. Criminal Justice Studies touches on all factors related to crime, the law and the justice system. Coursework introduces students to police, court and corrections operations; crime and public policy; juvenile justice; mental health law; white-collar crime; national security; and intelligence policies. Sponsored by the Rombach Institute on Crime, Delinquency and Corrections, this Bachelor of Science program helps students develop the ability to think critically about criminal justice issues, a necessity in an increasingly complex and politicized society. Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with an Applied Mathematics emphasis engage in interdisciplinary study with core mathematics courses and a minor that is independent of the Department of Mathematics. Fascinated by the connection between the meaning of art and the work itself? Learn how to communicate through art with a course of study that sharpens your technical ability while defining your concepts. The 2D emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art asks students to specialize in one of two areas: Painting & Drawing, or Printmaking. Students develop skills in their specialization through courses that advance contemporary and historical awareness of the discipline. Faculty members from Painting, Drawing and Printmaking are committed to interdisciplinary approaches. Students enjoy printmaking facilities offering traditional and technologically based processes, and can use oil, acrylic and dry media in the painting and drawing facilities. Discover how the immersion into another culture can help you navigate an increasingly connected world. The Bachelor of Arts in French offers two emphases. The French and Francophone focus suits students with wide-ranging interests in French and Francophone studies to complete a French major without taking all courses in French. After completing the core requirements in French language, students take courses in the major that are taught in English. Students benefit from a diverse program, with coursework in language, literature and culture. There are also opportunities to study abroad in Paris, which is one of the oldest and most established study abroad programs at the University of Arizona.
