Agriculture has evolved from hand hoes and sickles to today's tools: drones, crop sensors and drought-resistant plants. Students who select the Agricultural Technology Management emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology Management and Education specialize in one of six areas: controlled environment agriculture, field crop production and management, information systems, horticulture management, turf grass management or animal agriculture. They will develop a strong foundation of technical expertise and field experience, learning how to use technology and modern techniques. Coursework focuses on skill development in areas such as lab and shop safety, applications in agricultural mechanics, operations in urban agricultural mechanization, and irrigation and turf maintenance.

The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Geography with an emphasis in Water, Environment and Society takes this a step further. Students explore the broad scope of water supply and demand - a theme that has emerged as a critical planning issue in communities in the Western U.S. and around the world - at a school recognized as the world's No. 1 program in water resources by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Courses examine key questions facing policymakers and train students in the methods decision-makers use to address these issues, including remote sensing, geographic information science (GIS) and field methods. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics is an interdisciplinary program that combines a broad interest in physics with practical career skills, networking opportunities and experience that equips students for real-world problem-solving. In addition to broad study of physics, students take technical elective courses in the areas of science, engineering, math or programming, along with courses in data, statistics or monitoring and communications. Students are required to complete an Engineering Senior Design Project. Alternatively, interdisciplinary design or internship experience can be considered on a case-by-case basis. The B.S. in Applied Physics serves as a launchpad for careers in the private sector or for advanced study in applications such as engineering and medicine.

Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Data Science will have a solid foundation in mathematics. Yet they focus on the capture, maintenance, processing, analysis and communication of data through immersion in courses in probability, statistics, data science and computer programming. Undergraduates also must complete a minor outside the Department of Mathematics. The B.A. and B.S. allow students to pursue graduate degrees or careers in analytics, risk assessment, finance, and other math- and science-related fields.
