Love horses? Have a head for business and an interest in science? This degree combines all those interests with real-world experience. The Animal Sciences Bachelor of Science offers an Equine emphasis. Equine science is the study of horses and their care. During this program, students acquire practical, hands-on equine handling techniques; learn about equine nutrition, physiology and anatomy; and develop business strategy skills. Additional skills honed include critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership and a basic understanding of business principles and how they apply to equine enterprises. This program equips students for careers in equine health, industry sales, equine management, research and teaching. Faculty and mentors associated with the program challenge students to apply their studies to address real-world challenges in the animal industry and agribusiness.

Develop your writing craft and from fiction and nonfiction to poetry and technical writing and under the guidance of award-winning, published authors in small workshop settings. The Creative Writing program offers students the opportunity to develop their skills for creative written expression. Workshops led by an internationally renowned faculty aim to help students write well-crafted and compelling works of prose and poetry. Additionally, coursework in literature and literary analysis teaches critical thinking and research efficiencies, while classes in publishing share real-world insights into the writing profession. This Bachelor of Arts program of study not only gives students widely applicable tools that can be used across myriad industries, but it also offers a Professional and Technical Writing certificate and grants access to some of today's most important and influential writers.

Mexican American Studies examines the Mexican American experience as informed by social and health sciences, history, law and humanities. Students in this Bachelor of Arts major gain insight into how government and public policy, minority health disparities, urban planning, law, immigration, language and more affect the Mexican American population. Current U.S. demographic trends show that Mexican Americans live and work in the Southwest, the Midwest and the South, and many of these communities need people who are knowledgeable about the challenges and trajectories of Mexican Americans. The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law is an interdisciplinary major that offers a comprehensive perspective of current social, economic and political issues. The content draws on courses from philosophy, politics and economics, but the heart of the program is a set of specialized core courses designed exclusively for majors. These are taught in small classroom settings by distinguished faculty with appointments in philosophy, political science, economics and law. Students learn to analyze the fundamental values that shape the economic, political and legal domains; develop an understanding of the moral and historical foundations of economic institutions and political-legal structures; and gain logical thinking and conceptual analysis skills.

If a career in Spanish language translation or interpretation interests you, the University of Arizona has a specific Spanish major emphasis to train students at the undergraduate level. Students earning the Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Engineering collaborate with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and several College of Engineering degree programs. They study ways to sustainably feed an ever-growing world population, harness and preserve natural resources, and overcome environmental challenges. Students are immersed in design throughout their undergraduate experience. The future depends on biosystems engineers working in fields such as agriculture, water conservation and renewable energy.
