Environmental Studies sheds light on the human dimensions of environmental issues. The interdisciplinary nature of this Bachelor of Arts makes the study of geography critical to understanding key factors affecting the environment in today's world. Distinguished faculty members teach courses about water, land use, food, energy, the built environment and climate related to both urban and rural areas. Students explore techniques for addressing pressing social science issues, but they study physical science techniques as well. The world has thousands of languages. Study linguistics to understand the root of all language: human connection and communication. Linguistics is concerned with the nature of language and communication. Particularly, how humans learn language and how language influences the ways people interact and think about the world. In the Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with an emphasis in Linguistics and Languages, students acquire an understanding of how language is structured in phonology, morphology, syntax both in a general sense and regarding specific languages. Students also learn how languages vary and discover the unconscious knowledge that all humans possess about language. The renowned faculty includes preeminent linguist Noam Chomsky, as well as experts in language documentation and revitalization, especially for Native American languages.

If you want to keep communities and individuals healthy, consider majoring in Public Health with a Health Promotion emphasis. Public health educators provide outreach and programming to populations and communities regarding health and safety concerns. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Health Promotion emphasis is one of several areas of concentration within the major. Students who choose Health Promotion as their emphasis focus on education and intervention methods, community health concerns, community wellness initiatives, and school health and safety. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is a professional degree that provides students with technical training and performance experience. The program's triple-track design means students can study ballet, modern and jazz with equal emphasis. Students approach the study of dance as an art form and also as a means to understand society, history, the human body and other areas of scholarly endeavor. The core curriculum includes history, research in world dance, biomechanics, improvisation, choreography, music, musical theatre vocal training, production, and career planning. Majors may choose to emphasize ballet, modern or jazz dance in their technical classes and in performance, or maintain a broad, diverse approach.

A major in Art History offers students a critical view of the role of art in culture and politics from prehistory to the modern era. Coursework offers comprehensive studies in the history of art through rigorous visual analysis, engagement with current scholarship and the application of various methodological approaches. Students gain wide knowledge of the history of art through introductory courses and then take specialty courses in areas including early modern Europe, the history of photography, Latin America, modern and contemporary, among others. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. When students embark on a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Ideas and Methods, they focus on theoretical questions that lead to real-world change. Students explore the processes, principles and structures of government and political institutions in the U.S. and in countries around the globe. Coursework covers international relations, political theory, foreign affairs, methodology and institutions, and includes hands-on internship opportunities at nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
