Mexican American Studies examines the Mexican American experience as informed by social and health sciences, history, law and humanities. Students in this Bachelor of Arts major gain insight into how government and public policy, minority health disparities, urban planning, law, immigration, language and more affect the Mexican American population. The Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Percussion emphasis is designed to develop in students the highest possible level of musicianship and competency in performance and teaching. The faculty at the Fred Fox School of Music instructs and mentors students in percussion methods, chamber percussion groups and percussion ensembles. The curriculum presents students with a relevant sequence of study of all the percussion instruments. Students acquire performance skills and experience in solo and ensemble performance; historical and stylistic understanding; mastery of technical facility; and pedagogical concepts of teaching procedure and practice.

The materials science and engineering degree program immerses you in hands-on study geared to discovering materials for products and technology, and finding new ways to use and improve existing ones. Materials science engineers research, design and develop polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, and other natural and synthetic materials to advance fields such as energy, health care, aerospace and defense. Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering work directly with the materials they study through smelting, composite manufacturing and glassblowing labs. Undergraduates gain research experience in the University of Arizona's world-renowned centers such as the Arizona Materials Lab and the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy and through interdisciplinary design projects. Students who select the Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with a Geology emphasis take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the planet. In this top-ranked program, students learn scientific research skills; gain experience working with data and technology in the field and in the laboratory; and study the Earth's origin and history, as well as the planet's components and how they interact with one another.
