The Japanese Culture Intensive emphasis introduces students to the traditions, history, culture and religion of Japan, including some instruction in the Japanese language. Explore the concepts of ecology and genetics in an evolutionary context in the first department of its kind in the world. The field of ecology and evolutionary biology deals with the integration of biological systems across all levels of organization, from molecular biology to global ecosystems. This Bachelor of Science is for the student planning to pursue graduate study or a career in ecology and evolutionary biology, or a related scientific field. The Bachelor of Arts prepares students for careers that require having scientific knowledge, such as scientific journalism, developing environmental and scientific policy or practicing law in related fields. The curriculum includes core courses in genetics, ecology and evolution, with additional study through involvement in independent research, usually by working in the labs of our faculty. Students also have access to certain field courses.

Global Studies is an interdisciplinary approach to thinking critically about global issues. This Bachelor of Arts is structured around intellectual and experiential frameworks that empower students to analyze, adapt, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Global Political and Economy emphasis examines the mechanisms of order and disorder, and cooperation and conflict among humans. It also explores the major types of formal organizations, including nation-states, international or transnational organizations, and nongovernment organizations. Students gain knowledge of diverse global institutions and their political, economic, social and cultural impacts on the world. They also develop ""global competency"" by obtaining the necessary skills for engaging in problem-solving across boundaries.

Classes include eight semesters of Stanislavsky-based acting training; four semesters of voice and movement; stage combat classes; audition technique courses; screen acting classes; and professional development and business acumen that culminate in a showcase for leading industry professionals in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and major regional markets.

The Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Development prepares students for careers and graduate training in a variety of fields, such as human services, social policy, community and public health, counseling, social work, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, gerontology, child/elder advocacy, criminal justice/law, and child life specialist professions. Students explore topics such as adolescence, child development, family relationships, mental health, counseling and youth programs in both traditional classroom settings and real-world situations. Additionally, the program offers a network of community agencies that provide internships and hands-on learning to ensure that, upon graduation, students are well equipped to meet challenges head-on.

The Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies investigates the historical and contemporary experiences of Africana peoples and how they are shaped by gender, class, race and global conditions. Students choose from one of three emphases: African American History, Culture & Aesthetics; Comparative Global African Diaspora; or Performance, Media, & Digital Africana Studies. This interdisciplinary major gives students essential professional skills applicable to many careers, including the ability to understand people from any background; writing; critical thinking; public speaking; creativity; leadership; and initiative. Classes focus on literature, history, culture, film, technology, arts, politics and more. The program is a leader in digital learning and boasts the nation's first Hip-Hop minor. Students are supported by faculty and a network of community leaders, with opportunities for internships, study abroad and more.

Students seeking a Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Voice emphasis gain instruction and mentorship from faculty members who regularly perform with major ensemble and opera companies. The Fred Fox School of Music ranks among the nation's top musical institutions. Classes include voice, music reading, diction for singers and more. As part of their conducted large-ensemble requirement, vocalists usually begin by singing in the University Singers/Kantorei and Honor Choir. Then they progress to the Symphonic Choir and even The Arizona Choir. Students also have access to the school's recording studio.
