The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. The program enhances students' artistic development with coursework that promotes conceptual investigation and an understanding of contemporary issues through the exploration of diverse media. Students achieve expertise through technical processes and learn from faculty members who offer in-depth expertise gained from a long history of practice in, and engagement with, art at national and international levels. Students develop professionalism in technical skills, conceptual formulation and critical thinking.

Develop your writing craft and from fiction and nonfiction to poetry and technical writing and under the guidance of award-winning, published authors in small workshop settings. The Creative Writing program offers students the opportunity to develop their skills for creative written expression. Workshops led by an internationally renowned faculty aim to help students write well-crafted and compelling works of prose and poetry. Additionally, coursework in literature and literary analysis teaches critical thinking and research efficiencies, while classes in publishing share real-world insights into the writing profession. This Bachelor of Arts program of study not only gives students widely applicable tools that can be used across myriad industries, but it also offers a Professional and Technical Writing certificate and grants access to some of today's most important and influential writers.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Literacy, Learning and Leadership fill lead roles in a wide range of fields, including volunteer programming, nonprofit work, youth services, and community education and outreach. Learn how to communicate through art with a course of study that sharpens your technical ability while defining your concepts. The 2D emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art asks students to specialize in one of two areas: Painting & Drawing, or Printmaking. Students develop skills in their specialization through courses that advance contemporary and historical awareness of the discipline. Faculty members from Painting, Drawing and Printmaking are committed to interdisciplinary approaches. Students enjoy printmaking facilities offering traditional and technologically based processes, and can use oil, acrylic and dry media in the painting and drawing facilities. Elective courses provide students with a chance to explore subjects inside and outside their areas of emphasis, such as collage, installation and watercolor.

The materials science and engineering degree program immerses you in hands-on study geared to discovering materials for products and technology, and finding new ways to use and improve existing ones. Materials science engineers research, design and develop polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, and other natural and synthetic materials to advance fields such as energy, health care, aerospace and defense. Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering work directly with the materials they study through smelting, composite manufacturing and glassblowing labs. Undergraduates gain research experience in the University of Arizona's world-renowned centers such as the Arizona Materials Lab and the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy and through interdisciplinary design projects. Careers for materials science engineers are linked to every field of engineering and science.

Big data is changing the world. Offered through the Department of Mathematics, this degree prepares you to take part in the data revolution. Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Data Science will have a solid foundation in mathematics. Yet they focus on the capture, maintenance, processing, analysis and communication of data through immersion in courses in probability, statistics, data science and computer programming. Undergraduates also must complete a minor outside the Department of Mathematics. The B.A. and B.S. allow students to pursue graduate degrees or careers in analytics, risk assessment, finance, and other math- and science-related fields.

Take your love of sports beyond the scoreboard by honing an understanding of the complex systems in social, economic, racial or otherwise at play. The Bachelor of General Studies with a Sports and Society emphasis examines the broader economic, political, religious, cultural, ethnic and social systems that apply to the world of sports. Coursework helps students grasp theories regarding teams and group dynamics in sports. This includes issues related to cultural, gender and socioeconomic diversity, as well as those related to the role that sports plays in society. Students gain fundamental skills in economics, accounting and general management theory, plus a finely tuned ability to evaluate multiple perspectives on social and cultural change as they relate to sports.

Make a difference in the lives of dual-language youth by majoring in Elementary Education with a bilingual endorsement. Elementary educators with a bilingual endorsement help bilingual students gain foundational footing in core subjects. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Education, students in the two-year program also earn an Elementary Certificate K-8 with a bilingual endorsement in English and Spanish. This credential allows them to teach in bilingual or dual-language classrooms or traditional settings. During the program, students split time between the University of Arizona and a local K-8 school. At the elementary school, they immerse themselves in Spanish and gain teaching experience with diverse language learners. Students also have the opportunity to student-teach in Mexico.

Learn to speak, read and understand Japanese fluently as an essential and transferable skill for those who wish to pursue a career in the global economy.The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies allows students to focus on one of two areas: language or culture. The Japanese Language Intensive emphasis teaches language proficiency on three levels, from beginning to advanced, as well as offers specialized instruction in advanced reading, writing and conversation. Students might be asked to take a placement exam to determine their level. Upon graduation, students can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with Japanese speakers. They also display competency in reading materials in Japanese. Additionally, the program provides enriching opportunities for study abroad.
