Undergraduates in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) study all aspects of communication sciences and disorders across the life span. The coursework is designed to foster development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills and enhances students' ability to evaluate scientific information. Students also have opportunities to participate in experiential activities such as research labs and clinical observation in an on-site speech, language and hearing clinic. A Bachelor of Science in SLHS prepares students for advanced degrees, such as Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, Doctor of Audiology or Doctor of Philosophy.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

The program provides instruction in the languages, cultures, and civilizations of East Asia (China, Japan, and Korea); Asian humanities and religions; and Asian-American studies. Individual programs may emphasize the language, linguistics, literature, history, thought, religion, and society (ancient or modern) of more than one cultural area (China, Japan, or Korea). Students may specialize in the East Asian region or one or more discipline-focused studies of East Asian subjects. Advanced study of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is required.

Improve your technique and performance skills as a flute musician while broadening your understanding of the fundamentals of music. Flute studies at the Fred Fox School of Music include weekly private lessons, a weekly studio master class, small group technique classes, flute pedagogy and more. Along with applied study, students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Flute emphasis perform solo, chamber, concerto, orchestral and wind ensemble repertoire for live performances, competitions and recordings. Develop critical solutions from those based in scientific disciplines to law and education - to help manage and protect our natural resources. The Conservation Biology emphasis in the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources encourages students to study conservation across taxa (invertebrates, vertebrates, plants, fungi, microbes) and across scientific disciplines such as ecology, genetics and evolution. The program of study also includes coursework in policy, planning and economics. Students acquire highly desirable science and social-science skills and real-world experiences to pursue careers as conservation biologists, conservation planners, environmental educators, researchers, natural resource managers and ecologists. This B.S. degree program also prepares students for graduate degrees in law and policy or work in government agencies and nonprofits, such as The Nature Conservancy.

Do you want to help individuals in diverse populations and communities? Consider majoring in the Public Health Practice emphasis. Public health professionals design and implement programs to ensure all communities have access to crucial health services and safe living conditions. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science with a major in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Public Health Practice emphasis is one of several areas of concentration within the major. Public Health Practice students study health program evaluation, health policy, law and ethics.
