Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. The study of information science and arts uses a solid mathematical and technical foundation to emphasize computational arts, such as creative coding and digital storytelling. The Bachelor of Arts in Information Science and Arts consists of coursework organized into three tiers: core classes (computer programming, digital ethics, statistics, fundamentals of information science); research methods, data analysis and intensive computing; and advanced techniques customized to each student's interest. Students enjoy access to laser cutters, 3D printers and other technologies in the new rapid prototyping lab, and they can harness their creativity into a highly specific technical expertise.

Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences with Emphasis in Dietetics

Be on the front lines of helping people live healthier, happier lives. Thanks to important new research in disease prevention, the field of nutrition is growing. The Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences is a science-heavy approach to nutritional therapies and human health and well-being. The program offers two areas of study. Students in the Dietetics emphasis take courses in medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, nutrition counseling and food service management. Students are eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietetic Technicians after graduating to earn the Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered credential. Beginning January 1, 2024, students must have earned a master's degree in order to sit for the RDN exam.

A Wildlife Conservation and Management emphasis in the Natural Resources Bachelor of Science program focuses on the ecology of wild animals, including the study of their biology, their relationships with each other and humans, and the physical and biological environment that are their habitat. Students are equipped for careers as wildlife and fishery biologists who develop strategies to maintain biodiversity and habitat, help rare and endangered species to recover, manage populations of harvested animals, monitor populations of plants and animals, manage refuges and hatcheries, design and implement research projects, eliminate invasive species, develop computer models and educate the public. Graduates are employed as wildlife biologists by federal and state resource-management agencies and by other conservation organizations.
