The B.S.E. in Engineering program at Jefferson Thomas Jefferson University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The program will prepare you with a breadth of engineering skills and knowledge while developing specific expertise and analytical skills in an area of technical concentration, including:

• Industrial and Systems Engineering
• Textile Engineering

You will begin developing science, math, and engineering analysis skills in foundational courses. As a sophomore, you will select your area of concentration.

Through applied coursework culminating with a two-semester senior design project, you will gain hands-on, real world experience allowing you to obtain professional licensure, succeed in industry, pursue graduate studies, or start a business in your specialized concentration or in general engineering practice.

The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions as clinical laboratory managers, consultants, research associates and research scientists in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry or medical toxicology.

Graduates of the program have been accepted into PhD and professional doctoral programs.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

The Master of Science Program in Pharmacology prepares graduates for positions in:

• Research and development
• Research management
• Clinical trials
• Toxicology review and assessment

Graduates have been accepted into PhD and professional degree programs.
The MS Pharmacology Program also offers a track in Human Investigation. This track is for residents and fellows doing post-graduate clinical training.

Students applying to the Program should have taken undergraduate general and organic chemistry courses and at least one biology course. An undergraduate biochemistry course is strongly recommended, but not required.

Jefferson’s M.S. in Historic Preservation not only prepares graduates to preserve historic buildings and sites, but also to re-envision and re-purpose the past to serve present and future needs. The curriculum foregrounds adaptive reuse of historic structures as well as in-depth analysis through historical research and graphic documentation. Students develop skills fundamental to assess the condition and evolution of buildings and promote the ways historic structures order the urban fabric, contribute to healthy communities, and facilitate “place-making” as a catalyst for community revitalization. Students apply new and rapidly evolving digital technologies for managing, documenting and interpreting culturally significant structures and places.

As the first UNESCO World Heritage City in the United States, Philadelphia is a living laboratory of architectural styles and periods, offering a wealth of real-world projects and internship opportunities utilizing buildings and technologies, dating from 18th century Georgian through mid-20th century Modern.

At Jefferson’s new Center for the Preservation of Modernism, students develop preservation protocols tailored to the unique character of early and mid-century modern architecture, the next preservation frontier as these buildings age, and may study the preservation of modernist architecture abroad at the iconic Bauhaus Building in Dessau, Germany or at the Giuseppe Terragni Archive in Como, Italy.
Students customize their course of study by selecting one of two tracks: Research and Documentation; or Preservation Design; and specialize in a field compatible with their track drawn from the College of Architecture and the Built Environment’s graduate offerings including Sustainable Design, Geographic Information Systems, Façade Technologies, Architectural History or Real Estate Development. The curriculum affords students the freedom to explore topics that suit their interests and further their professional goals.

The M.S. in Interior Architecture is a 49 or 69-credit graduate program structured to meet the needs of students from both non-design, design and architecture backgrounds seeking one of the best professional-level education in interior design/interior architecture. The program offers up to one year of advanced standing for those already in the field who are interested in refining their knowledge and skills at the graduate level. This program prepares students to reach their full potential, whether seeking an introduction or building on previous experience.

As an Interior Architecture program, we emphasize how the interior environment encompasses all parts of the interior volume and acknowledges the intersection between architecture and interiors. The curriculum integrates theory with the technical skills needed for practical application and immerses students in current technologies and sustainable practice as they work collaboratively and think critically to discover innovative solutions. Jefferson’s campus is positioned minutes from downtown, offering networking and employment opportunities within the city’s thriving architecture industry. Our faculty of practicing professionals provides many advantages and a range of real-world experiences. You start collecting chemical knowledge and skills through core courses and shadowing faculty and upper-level student researchers.  As a sophomore, you will start helping with authentic, real-world research projects – experience many biochemistry students don’t get until graduate programs. This is possible thanks to the individual attention you get in our small classes and our well-equipped research laboratories.

A broad range of psychology courses coupled with research, internships, and study-abroad experiences will thoroughly prepare you for graduate programs at top schools.
You have the power to tailor your curriculum to match your unique ambitions. You will choose half of the 16 psychology classes you need to take for your major – a more thorough curriculum than many other programs.  Required courses include very popular topics like Abnormal Psychology and Developmental Psychology. You will also have the opportunity to declare a minor of your choice, to further tailor your education for your particular interests.

You will also learn how to conduct professional-level research, completing an independent senior research project – a great opportunity to join our growing number of published undergraduates.

The Sustainable Design program at Thomas Jefferson University was developed by a group of the country’s top sustainable designers and experienced sustainability professors. The result is an award-winning trans-disciplinary, collaborative design program. Our professors are comprised of theory-based full-time faculty and practicing professionals with diverse backgrounds in architecture, engineering, design, sustainability leadership, and construction management.
