Environmental Science and Policy-M.S.
The Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy is designed to provide students the discipline-specific knowledge and transferable skills to understand the socio-cultural and political context in which environmental problems are created and ameliorated, as well as the scientific expertise to explore and analyze the consequences of ongoing environmental change. Students can specialize in wetlands and water, natural environments, climate and hazards, geographic information systems, or human-environment interaction. English with a concentration in Creative Writing
A bachelor’s degree in English prepares students for any field that values critical thinking, high reading comprehension, clear and effective writing, and the ability to interpret and analyze language. It provides two concentrations from which students must choose one: Creative Writing and Literary Studies.

Chemistry
The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is designed for students wishing to continue with graduate training in chemistry and closely allied disciplines and the degree is certified by the American Chemical Society. The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry provides a firm foundation in all five disciplines of chemistry: organic, physical chemistry, inorganic, analytical and biochemistry. Students interested in research, the pursuit of an advanced degree, employment in the chemical industry, or who want to teach at the secondary education level may find this degree attractive. The curriculum for the B.S. degree in Chemistry meets the requirements for degree certification by the American Chemical Society.

Biology
The Bachelor of Science in Biology provides a broad, robust foundation in the biological sciences. It prepares students for graduate programs in biology (e.g. zoology, botany, conservation biology, microbiology, marine biology, ecology and evolution) as well as professional degrees in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacology, or biology careers with industry and government agencies. The program emphasizes the development of critical thinking and communication skills, as well as competency in experimental design, data analysis and methodology for lab and field research. The concentrations allow students to focus coursework according to their interests. A wide range of skill-building opportunities are available to students through undergraduate research, internships, study abroad, service learning, and field courses.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a non?thesis option for the degree of Master of Science in Information Technology (M.S.I.T). The MSIT graduate will demonstrate strong information technology skills as well as problem solving skills needed for the deployment of technology solutions to achieve business and organizational goals. The degree is available in an hybrid mode (online and face to face), and provides students with a broad and integrative understanding of both technology and operational and strategic business and organizational applications. There is considerable freedom in the choice of the courses.

The breadth of subjects which are part of information technology together with the immense diversity of its applications, make it imperative that students in the Master’s major maintain close contact with the Graduate Director, in order to achieve a coherent plan of study directed towards a specific goal. In particular, election of courses should only be made with prior consultation and approval of the Major Professor or the Graduate Director.

Urban and Regional Planning-M.A.
The goal of the major is to train students to become planning practitioners capable of working in a variety of public, nonprofit, and private sector environments in a number of different fields. The Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance in the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida offers a Master of Science in Finance degree. The Master of Science in Finance is a specialized degree with a curriculum that emphasizes finance and economics.

The Master of Science in Finance offers an advanced education for individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in corporate finance, investments, financial services, and related areas.

The Sociology M.A. provides a foundation in a broad range of sociological theories and research methods and an opportunity for pursuing specialized interests in elective Sociology courses, courses in other departments, and thesis research. Many of our M.A. recipients continue in a sociology Ph.D. Others teach in secondary schools and junior colleges, are employed in mental health services and research, in human resources management, and government organizations, or work as research consultants and market analysts.
