The Department of Chemistry offers Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, and Non-thesis Master of Arts degrees. The Chemistry graduate faculty is comprised of full-time senior faculty members, all holding the Ph.D. degree. The combination of a large and strong faculty with a wide variety of courses provides students with programs of study that can be tailored to fit individual needs, while maintaining a sound background in all general aspects of Chemistry. The Master of Music degree provides students with an opportunity to pursue intense, focused study in their music specialty, coupled with a vigorous, balanced curriculum in music theory, music literature, and electives. Students in this major are mentored expertly by senior faculty and exhibit mastery of their specialty at the end of the course of study by way of appropriate capstone experiences, including recitals or theses and comprehensive examinations. The provisions and balance of these experiences comport precisely with the curriculum guidelines required by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Sociology
The Sociology major is designed to provide students with a broad liberal arts education and a greater understanding and insight into the social systems and processes that bear upon everyday lives. Opportunities for students with Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology are quite varied. Some go on to work for human service agencies; others work in personnel, criminal justice, and urban planning; others enter graduate programs in sociology, education, law, medicine, or social work. Toward these ends, all students are encouraged to become skilled in the use of computers and libraries.

This degree prepares our majors to go on to graduate school, medical school, law school, or choose to enter the workforce in a wide variety of public, private, governmental, and non-profit agencies. Faculty in the department collaborate with an extensive group of disciplines, providing students across campus with a site for interdisciplinary learning and teaching. Given the intensity and rigor of study, including analytical reading and critical writing, our majors make themselves extremely attractive to potential employers

This degree is designed to develop the student’s consciousness of aesthetic and ideological aspects of art and its relationship to life. The degree also assists students in the realization of personal ideas, art making skills and imagery. The BA is oriented toward a general and broad immersion in the field. Studio courses are supplemented with studies in art history, foreign language and an abundance of electives both within the School of Art and Art History and throughout the campus. While the BA in Studio Art is not usually the preferred preparation for moving on to the Master of Fine Arts degree, it is quite appropriate for seeking other advanced degrees, especially in the Liberal Arts or other similar programs.

Geology
The Bachelor of Arts program is designed primarily for the liberal arts student who has an interest in careers in Geoscience education or environmental policy and law. A student who elects the B.A. program and decides to pursue the geology profession or attend graduate school will need at least field geology in his/her program.

This master’s program can be done either fully online or in a hybrid (combination face-to-face and online) manner. It will consist of two tracks. The applied track will prepare students for the newly emerging and rapidly changing field of digital journalism, which brings new technologies and evolving value to bear on the report of global news and events. The academic track will prepare students in both emerging digital news and communication technologies while adding an academic dimension for those wishing to continue their studies or pursue a Ph.D. in Mass Communications or other related field.

The major leading to the accredited Master of Architecture  degree is intended for students who have completed baccalaureate degrees in architecure or pre-professional majors.  Students with non-architectural majors or with a pre­ professional undergraduate major may also enter the program once pre-requisites are completed.. The comprehensive and rigorous curriculum prepares graduates for a full range of professional activities. The course of study emphasizes urban architecture and related topics to take advantage of its diverse metropolitan setting in Florida’s Tampa Bay.

The School of Architecture  and Community Design (SACD) is home to the Florida Center for Community Design and Research, is a non-profit public service institute  of the School of Architecture and Community Design. It was founded in 1986 to  assist the  citizens of Florida in the  creation  of more  livable and sustainable communities  through  applied community  design, multi-disciplinary research, and public education. The diverse staff includes architecture faculty and students,research scientists, and programmer analysts. In addition, the Center has affiliated faculty or graduate students from the Department of Anthropology, Biology, Fine Arts, Geography, and Social Work.
