Electrical Engineering-M.S.
The faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at USF takes great pride in providing a high quality education to our more than 400 graduate students and invites you to consider joining us in advancing the frontiers of knowledge. Our student body is diverse, our research spans experimental and theoretical studies of many fundamental areas of electrical engineering, and we enjoy strong partnerships throughout industry and with prominent national laboratories and federal agencies. Most importantly our graduate students benefit from the dedicated, personal guidance of our faculty.

The faculty of electrical engineering hails from some of the finest institutions in the country, and includes NSF CAREER Award winners, Fellows of the IEEE and AAAS, Distinguished University Professors, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Many serve in national leadership roles in technical societies such as the IEEE, have industry experience to complement their academic backgrounds, and lend their expertise to federal agencies such as The National Science Foundation and The National Institutes of Health. Some are very entrepreneurial and have founded spin-off companies based on their research. This diversity of experience enriches the learning and experiences of our students.

The Bachelor of Science degree program provides the student with a hands-on foundation in the fundamentals of the geosciences. As a result of faculty interests and geographic locations, several geologic sub-disciplines are emphasized, including applied geophysics, coastal geology, geochemistry, geomorphology, geoscience education, hydrogeology, paleobiology, petrology, and volcanology. However, the wide variety of courses and electives offered by the Geology, Environmental Sciences, and Geography programs within the School of Geosciences provides students with programs of study that can be tailored to fit individual needs while maintaining a sound background in all general aspects of geology.

Geology
The Bachelor of Science degree program provides the student with a hands-on foundation in the fundamentals of the geosciences. The Sociology major is designed to provide students with a broad liberal arts education and a greater understanding and insight into the social systems and processes that bear upon everyday lives. Opportunities for students with Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology are quite varied. Some go on to work for human service agencies; others work in personnel, criminal justice, and urban planning; others enter graduate programs in sociology, education, law, medicine, or social work. Toward these ends, all students are encouraged to become skilled in the use of computers and libraries.

World Languages and Cultures with a concentration in German
The Bachelor of Arts in World Languages and Cultures offers students a solid foundation in language and linguistic skills, as well as knowledge of diverse cultures. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to interact and participate in a global environment.

Natural Sciences
The Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences degree serves the academic and career goals of undergraduate students who seek a broad education in the Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geology). Students select a sequence of upper-level courses based on career goals, choosing three of the five natural science areas. Students interested in secondary education, public health, and other fields may choose this degree.

Finance-M.S.
The Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance in the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida offers a Master of Science in Finance degree. The Master of Science in Finance is a specialized degree with a curriculum that emphasizes finance and economics.

The Master of Science in Finance offers an advanced education for individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in corporate finance, investments, financial services, and related areas.

The Sociology M.A. provides a foundation in a broad range of sociological theories and research methods and an opportunity for pursuing specialized interests in elective Sociology courses, courses in other departments, and thesis research. Many of our M.A. recipients continue in a sociology Ph.D. Others teach in secondary schools and junior colleges, are employed in mental health services and research, in human resources management, and government organizations, or work as research consultants and market analysts.

The M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy is designed for students who are seeking to become licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. The program is a 60 credit hour terminal degree. Students will be trained and educated to be competent marriage and family therapists who will help to meet the growing job demand for the state of Florida.

The curriculum is based on Florida’s state licensure requirements, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Code of Ethics, Marriage and Family Therapy core competences, the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) National licensure examination domains, and national accreditation standards from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).

A thesis option is available for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy after successfully completing the master’s degree. Graduates from the program will be employable in behavioral health agencies, private practice, hospitals, Veteran Affairs (VA), and both residential and outpatient facilities.
