The Department offers graduate majors leading to the M.S.M.E. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.  Research opportunities are available in the following areas:  Mechanism Design, Kinematics, System Dynamics and Vibrations, Mechanical Controls, Tribology, Mechanical Design, Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering, Composite Materials, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Energy Systems, Microelectronic Device Thermal Management, Clean and Renewable Energy Systems, Micro and Nano scale materials and systems, MEMS, Biosensors, Biofluids, Biomedical Engineering, and Engineering Education Cellular Mechanotransduction and Biomaterials, Autonomy, Control, Information, and Systems.

Department facilities include the following laboratories:  Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computational Solid Mechanics, Computer-Aided Design, Dynamic Systems, Hydraulics, Rehabilitation Engineering, Robotics, Biofuel cells and Biomimetics, Nanomaterials and Thin Films, Advanced Materials Processing and Characterization, Biofluids and Biosensors, Microelectronic Thermal Management and Heat Transfer, and Compliant Mechanisms.

International Year One will prepare you to enter the second year of University of South Florida's competitive undergraduate degree program in business. After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression.

Entrepreneurship
A major in Entrepreneurship is intended for those students interested in the possibility of self-venturing or who may someday work in an entrepreneurial firm. Upon completion of this major, students will be especially prepared to leverage their knowledge to work in management positions within high growth, innovative firms or to take their own idea to market. This major utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to education thus providing a well-rounded knowledge of business.

Students will learn the creative nature of idea/opportunity identification and evaluation, the unique skills necessary to build an entrepreneurial firm, and the ability to interact with local community resources and mentors.

World Languages and Cultures with a concentration in Italian
The Bachelor of Arts in World Languages and Cultures offers students a solid foundation in language and linguistic skills, as well as knowledge of diverse cultures. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to interact and participate in a global environment.

International Year One in Visual and Performing Arts will prepare you with the skills you'll need to continue on as a second year visual and performing arts student at the University of South Florida. Music Studies
The B.A. degree in Music Studies is part of the Provost’s Scholars Program (PSP). This is a program in which qualified students who enter USF directly from high school with 18 or more credits will be offered the opportunity to complete their undergraduate education in 3 years. Each selected student will be provided preferred registration privileges so that critical courses are not closed when they register. They will be given summer scholarships if they need to take summer classes and will be given scholarships to help them participate in study abroad programs. PSP students will live in the Honors College Living/Learning Community year 1. Students will be offered the assistance of faculty or off campus mentors, depending upon career goals and will be encouraged to use the fourth year for graduate study here at USF. Participants will not need to take larger academic loads and can take advantage of all that USF has to offer.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Criminal Justice online program develops in qualified students the skills to apply principles, theories, and research in the field of criminal justice to “real world” issues.

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) is a professional degree designed to prepare graduates for managerial and/or leadership roles in organizations. Graduates will develop the necessary skills and problem?solving techniques that will permit them to make an early contribution to management and eventually to move into broad, general management responsibilities at the executive level.

The undergraduate program leading to a B.A. degree in Political Science offers a general purpose degree with a number of more specialized areas of focus. The program is designed for students interested in and seeking to understand political problems, issues, and the nature of the political process, as well as the philosophical and legal basis of political structures and processes at local, state, national, and international levels. Satisfying the degree requirements prepares students for positions in the public and private sectors, for law school, for graduate work in political science, international relations, public administration, and related disciplines, for positions in education, and for applied political activity.

Material Science and Engineering-M.S.
The Materials Science and Engineering Program here at USF is interdisciplinary and is supported by a care group of dedicated faculty from the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences. This program offers a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Materials Science and Engineering.

The program focuses on applying the fundamental principles of physics and chemistry to the engineering of materials. The curriculum is very flexible, giving each student to design a curriculum right for them. Their courses are supported by the core faculty affiliated with the program giving them a chance to learn explore a wide variety of materials and develop specialized skills as they see fit.

Some areas that students can specialize in include: electronic materials, nanomaterials, biomaterials, and polymers. Students can pursue a Master's thesis within the program with faculty across the USF campus engaged in materials science and engineering research. With this program, students develop the skills that can prepare for them a career in industrial positions of further aspirations of pursuing a PhD in science or engineering.

The Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of South Florida, in  partnership with the Colleges of Business and Engineering,  Morsani College of Medicine and the Patel College of Global Sustainability, has established a novel, innovative, and unique major in interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship in Applied Technologies. The Master’s of Science Degree Program in Entrepreneurship in Applied Technologies is an innovative major and consists of courses that will consolidate the Entrepreneurship education and training for successful opportunity recognition and development, technology and market assessment, technology commercialization, new venture formation, and new venture financing into a single inter-disciplinary program curriculum utilizing faculty and courses in the Colleges of Business, Engineering, Medicine, and Global Sustainability.

The Spanish Section of the Department of World Languages supports a broad, intellectually-driven approach to teaching language, culture, and literature in higher education. Languages and cultures are complex, multifunctional phenomena that link an individual to other individuals, to communities and to national cultures. The graduate major in Spanish offers students academic and practical training in the languages, literatures and cultures of the Spanish-speaking communities of Spain, Latin America, and the United States. Students who receive a Masters of Arts in Spanish from the Department of World Language Education at USF become well-educated communicators with deep translingual and transcultural competence. Thus, they are exceptionally prepared to either continue studies leading to the Ph.D., or find careers in related fields such as the teaching profession, translation, government, civil service agencies, legal and paralegal services, or foreign and domestic business enterprises.
