International Year One in Natural and Health Sciences will prepare you to enter the second year of a bachelor's degree program at the University of South Florida. Geology
The Bachelor of Arts program is designed primarily for the liberal arts student who has an interest in careers in Geoscience education or environmental policy and law. A student who elects the B.A. program and decides to pursue the geology profession or attend graduate school will need at least field geology in his/her program.

The Department of History at the University of South Florida offers MA applicants an enriching program of study, coursework, and directed research.  A master’s degree in History can prepare students for a variety of careers in the public and private sectors where research, critical thinking, and writing skills are especially important.

The B.S. program is intended for students planning to pursue graduate studies in physics or a closely related field.

Sociology
The Sociology major is designed to provide students with a broad liberal arts education and a greater understanding and insight into the social systems and processes that bear upon everyday lives. Opportunities for students with Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology are quite varied. Some go on to work for human service agencies; others work in personnel, criminal justice, and urban planning; others enter graduate programs in sociology, education, law, medicine, or social work. Toward these ends, all students are encouraged to become skilled in the use of computers and libraries.

The Bachelor of Science degree program provides the student with a hands-on foundation in the fundamentals of the geosciences. As a result of faculty interests and geographic locations, several geologic sub-disciplines are emphasized, including applied geophysics, coastal geology, geochemistry, geomorphology, geoscience education, hydrogeology, paleobiology, petrology, and volcanology. However, the wide variety of courses and electives offered by the Geology, Environmental Sciences, and Geography programs within the School of Geosciences provides students with programs of study that can be tailored to fit individual needs while maintaining a sound background in all general aspects of geology.

Business Administration-M.B.A.
The nationally ranked MBA program helps students develop analytical skills and creative abilities, and promotes collaboration with experienced and diverse classmates. In USF's MBA you will learn from world-class faculty, guest speakers and leaders of industry. The MBA can be completed on the Tampa and Sarasota-Manatee campuses.

Industrial Engineering
Industrial engineering (IE) is a field of study intended for individuals who are interested in formulating mathematical, statistical, and computer simulation models of complex systems in manufacturing, logistics, information, healthcare, transportation, financial, utilities, entertainment, and service. IEs connect big data sets and models to make engineering decisions for improving system performance and developing public policies. Unlike traditional disciplines in engineering, the scope of the industrial engineering field is very broad.

Mechanical Engineering-M.S.
The Department offers graduate majors leading to the M.S.M.E. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.  Research opportunities are available in the following areas:  Mechanism Design, Kinematics, System Dynamics and Vibrations, Mechanical Controls, Tribology, Mechanical Design, Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering, Composite Materials, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Energy Systems, Microelectronic Device Thermal Management, Clean and Renewable Energy Systems, Micro and Nano scale materials and systems, MEMS, Biosensors, Biofluids, Biomedical Engineering, and Engineering Education Cellular Mechanotransduction and Biomaterials, Autonomy, Control, Information, and Systems.

Computer Science-M.S.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a thesis and non-thesis option for the degree of Master of Science in Computer Science (M.S.C.S.) The thesis option requires students to pursue a more concentrated range of topics. The non-thesis option offers students some experience in many areas of computer science. There is considerable freedom in the choice of the courses.

The breadth of subjects which are part of computer science together with the immense diversity of its applications, make it imperative that students in the Master’s major maintain close contact with the Graduate Director, or, if choosing the thesis option, with their major professor in order to achieve a coherent plan of study directed towards a specific goal. In particular, election of courses should only be made with prior consultation and approval of the Major Professor or the Graduate Director.

Biomedical Engineering-M.S.
Biomedical Engineering is a highly interdisciplinary Major that combines engineering and the medical sciences. The student works with an advisor to develop a graduate Major that draws on courses from engineering, medicine, public health, and the life sciences.
