Marine Biology
The undergraduate Marine Biology program explores the ecology of marine environments and the nature of organisms inhabiting the oceans. The objective of this program is to augment the students’ foundation in basic biology with specialized knowledge and skills in marine biology that address contemporary issues such as coastal resilience, coastal pollution, diseases of marine organisms and restoring damaged habitats. An emphasis on data collection and research methods in the field and laboratory will ready students for employment in places such as consulting firms, environmental agencies, aquaria, and parks, while also preparing them for graduate school.   Internships, undergraduate research experiences, upper-level seminars, and reading from the primary literature will develop critical thinking skills and prepare students to address the many complex issues in marine biology, thereby practicing critical thinking and the application of science to grand societal/economic challenges.

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology offers students a well-rounded liberal arts education, relevant to many areas of study both inside and outside of the social and behavioral sciences. The program provides excellent training for qualified students who wish to pursue graduate work in such disciplines as Clinical, Cognitive and Neural Sciences or Industrial Psychology, Education, Gerontology, Counseling, Management, Medicine, Law, and other human service programs. Psychology
 The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology offers students a well-rounded liberal arts education, relevant to many areas of study both inside and outside of the social and behavioral sciences. The Master of Science in Cybersecurity is an interdisciplinary major that utilizes talent across the Colleges of Business, Engineering, Arts & Sciences, and Behavioral and Community Sciences. The major prepares students for leadership, managerial and domain-specific roles in Cybersecurity and for employment in managerial and operational positions that require quick analytical thinking, decision-making under uncertainty regarding critical resources, and domain-specific technical skills for managing secure operations. Specifically, based on the design of the concentrations and the core of this major, the major is also expected to prepare students for

• Intelligence positions that require innovative, analytical, decision-making, and technical skills for providing cybersecurity intelligence,
• Information assurance positions that require secure management of information and data transferred, used, stored, and processed in information systems,
• Law enforcement positions that are required to deal more and more with cyber-crimes, and
• Cybersecurity positions that require deep technical skills in the security domain.

Because this is a graduate-level major, to ensure that students possess the foundational knowledge for academic success, students admitted to this major are most likely to be successful if they have academic or work experience in the areas of C/C++ programming, computer networks, operating-system design, algorithms, data structures, and computer organization. An undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, MIS, or IT is recommended for admission. Note: For the Information Assurance Concentration it is recommended that students have a background in accounting information systems, database management, and systems analysis and design.

The Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) program, established in 1982, is a multidisciplinary graduate degree program for engineers and individuals with technical backgrounds who want to advance into management and executive roles. The Finance major provides a broad-based, analytical program for students anticipating a career in the management of both large and small organizations. Finance provides a good background for students seeking general careers in business. Finance majors can elect to take courses in the following areas that prepare them for entry and advanced careers in: financial management of corporations, management of financial institutions, investments, financial services, insurance, and real estate. In addition, the program in Finance is designed to provide the skills required by students earning degrees in other business disciplines and by students who seek professional degrees in areas such as law and public administration. The Finance program offers courses that enable the graduate to identify and solve problems in the acquisition and allocation of funds by organizations in the public and private sectors in domestic and international settings. It provides the background necessary for managing wealth in a risky environment. Finance relies on an interdisciplinary approach that draws on economic theory, accounting, information systems, and the quantitative decision frameworks of statistics and mathematics. The major is designed to ensure that graduates are familiar with the tools of financial decision making and that they possess the skills to stay abreast of the developments in the field. Finance graduates will understand the functions and operations of financial markets, become familiar with computer applications in finance, and know how to access and utilize financial information. Marketing operations are carried out domestically and internationally in all business organizations that offer a good or service. Many marketing concepts are applicable to the operations of non-profit organizations such as governmental, educational, and healthcare institutions, as well as charitable and political campaigns. Marketing operations provide the most visible links between the firm or institution and its many publics. Marketing deals with people who are constantly changing in their needs, wants, and desires; and coupled with these changing tastes is a fiercely competitive environment sustained by all the resources of a rapidly evolving technology. These forces lead to much of the challenge and dynamic nature of marketing.

Forensic Science and Justice
The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Studies and Justice provides pre-law and law enforcement-minded students with a critical analytical education to help improve the use of evidence in investigations, especially in the criminal justice system. The major teaches about forensic applications in criminal justice, cognitive biases, structured analytical techniques, and case study analysis within a systems thinking paradigm to provide a solid background to reduce errors in and improve investigations. The objective of the undergraduate major in Forensic Studies and Justice is to develop a sound educational basis either for law school, graduate work, or professional training in one or more of the technical areas comprising the modern criminal justice system, like investigators, analysts, agents, or technicians at the local, state, and federal levels. By tailoring electives, students can create areas of professional emphasis like white collar crime, human trafficking, victims’ advocates, environmental crimes, and others.
