Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

This is the only marriage and family therapy program at a state university in Arizona, and its accelerated, applied format means that you will earn your degree in 15 to 18 months instead of spending three or four years in a traditional program.

This self-contained, accelerated MAS program in marriage and family therapy provides high-quality coursework and supervised internship experiences. The BFA program in art with a concentration in animation prepares students to excel in the field of animation.

Animation students are provided an education that simultaneously sustains tradition and fosters innovation through embracing new visualization methodologies and tools with the potential to advance discoveries and insights across disciplines.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are able to demonstrate the technical and artistic abilities to create animations for exhibition in arts venues (galleries, museums, festivals, etc.) and in entertainment media-arts industries. Two pathways are available for the master's degree program in business analytics. The first pathway is the nine-month full-time program, and it is designed for individuals who want to immerse themselves in full-time graduate studies. This option is designed for busy working professionals seeking to continue working full-time while attending school.

The biomedical sciences concentration serves students in the BS program in biological sciences who wish to pursue careers in medicine, other health professions or biomedical research in academic, clinical or industry settings.

The curriculum aligns with the broad scientific competencies recommended for premedical students in a report of the American Medical Colleges and the Howard Hughes Medical Committee and reflected in the 2015 changes to the Medical College Admission Test. Coursework draws from the school's concentration in genetics, cell and developmental biology and the concentration in neurobiology, physiology and behavior, with the addition of courses in biology and in medicine and society. The concentration focuses on chemistry, biochemistry, math and physics coursework that is necessary to prepare students for the MCAT and for medical school admissions. The MS program in communication disorders prepares students to become certified speech language pathologists in a full-time residential program that can be completed in 20 months. The program trains students to evaluate and treat clients with speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders.
