The Computer Engineering program at Montana State is an interdisciplinary major that incorporates substantial coursework from both Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Students in the Restaurant Management: Farm-to-Table option at Montana State dig into hospitality-specific subjects such as systems management, quantity food preparation and the culinary arts, as well as investigate sustainability due to the program’s emphasis on farm-to-table and healthful cuisine. Courses are conducted at Towne’s Harvest Garden, MSU’s organic campus farm, as well as with restaurant and food service management businesses in the community. Candidates in the Community Health graduate program at Montana State integrate public health theory and critical thinking in an interdisciplinary program that allows students to design their course of study with a faculty mentor in order to ensure that their curriculum is aligned with professional interests and goals. In addition to nurturing close professional relationships with faculty mentors, Community Health candidates also gain hands-on research experience with research projects and partnerships with rural or Native American communities.

Students within the Microbial Systems program at Montana State start their studies with a strong foundation in coursework on chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology and genetics during the first two years of the program. Horticulture is the science and art of growing and maintaining plants for food, enjoyment and improvement of the human environment. Students of Environmental Horticulture Science in the Plant Sciences & Plant Pathology department at Montana State take fundamental courses in biology, chemistry and math prior to taking specialized courses such as plant physiology, plant pathology and plant reproduction. Students can also expect to take courses in ecology, business and communications to best prepare them for careers in such areas as floral and nursery crop production and in research with private companies, public agencies or higher education.
