In the Dietetics program at Montana State, students interested in pursuing a career as a registered dietician gain a strong foundational understanding in food and nutrition, food service management and clinical nutrition. At the conclusion of their undergraduate study, Dietetics students should be prepared to enter a graduate degree-level dietetic internship such as the Montana Dietetic Internship, which is required in order to be eligible to take the exam for dietetic registration.

In the Sustainable Food Systems program at Montana State, students focus on the interconnected relationships between production, food policy, food security and health in order to make informed decisions and solutions to complex problems in the food industry. Sustainable Food Systems students develop important skills through hands-on experience in service-based learning internships, organic farming, culinary fundamentals and management, training on research methods and carrying out research projects in surrounding communities.

Environmental Design students at Montana State learn how to design the spaces and structures where people live, work and play. In the Crop Science program at Montana State, students take courses designed to introduce core crop and soil management concepts, including soil fertility, plant physiology, crop production, crop breeding and pest management.

Not only do graduates enter into careers within corporate and commercial fitness and wellness programs, but are also prepared for professional certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

In the Management program at Montana State, students actively practice the critical problem-solving and decision-making skills that will serve in the workforce. Whether networking through the Management & HR Club or practicing a start-up pitch at the Jabs Entrepreneurship Center, Management students have a breath of resources at their fingertips to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom into the real world. With the skills gained in the Management track, students are prepared to step into a variety of roles such as analysts, managers, human resources specialists, entrepreneurship and more.

Agroecologists explore how crops and pest organisms interact with their environment, and the application of technology to efficiently and sustainability produce crops. In the Agroecology program at Montana State, students focus on community ecology, environmental science and cropland ecosystems and how they affect agricultural production decisions. After mastering fundamental principles of ecology, soil science, agronomy and pest management, Agroecology students are prepared to enter careers in the food or bioenergy sectors.
