Environmental Design students at Montana State learn how to design the spaces and structures where people live, work and play. Coursework focuses on scientific knowledge, technical expertise and high-level architectural design thinking both inside the studio and in the community at large. The Environmental Design program is specifically designed to prepare all graduates for acceptance into a Master of Architecture program, which licenses that candidate to work as a professional in the field.

Students in the Plant Biology program at Montana State start with a broad education of issues connected to the plant sciences before focusing their interest in the field with a cellular, molecular, organismal, ecological or genetic perspective to botany. The Montana State electrical engineering program emphasizes hands-on laboratory work from EELE 101 through graduation. Electrical engineering students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and software, including electrical systems, advanced digital design, communications, control systems and even a fully functional microfabrication clean room facility. Needless to say, Montana State electrical engineering graduates have a great reputation for confidence and effectiveness in engineering design, analysis and troubleshooting.

Students in the Equine Science track of Animal Science at Montana State are immersed in a program that combines the scientific and technical knowledge required in the industry with practical aspects of management, horsemanship and training. Students gain experience with business and management tools for the equine industry, colt breaking and horse behavior, land management for small acreage grazing and equine growth and development. In the Mathematics graduate program at Montana State, candidates work in a variety of areas including real and complex analysis, applied mathematics, dynamical systems, mathematical biology, mathematical imaging and probability.
