The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language, with an Emphasis in Dual Language meets the increasing demand for multilingual professionals. Students interested in pursuing intermediate studies in more than one language may combine the study of any two of the following languages: French, Japanese or Spanish. Coursework focuses on developing language proficiency, intercultural competency and professional skills. Students in the dual-language concentration also benefit from numerous study abroad opportunities to further refine their linguistic and cultural competencies.

The BA in Organizational Leadership is an interdisciplinary online degree completion program that provides an accelerated pathway to graduation for those who have an Associate’s degree or have completed some college courses, but have yet to complete their degree. The degree is designed to provide adult students with the knowledge, skills and credentials necessary to advance in a rapidly changing workplace and may be completed entirely online.

This program helps students understand theoretical and practical aspects of leadership across disciplines, while allowing you to focus on a specific Area of Concentration of interest or that advances your career goals.

The BS in Computing Technology is designed for those interested in a broad and deep computing education. It’s meant for those who want to focus more on technologies and transition to fulfilling careers, or those interested in future graduate study in an area related to computer science.

This program explores areas of computing technologies including network systems integration, software development, computer architecture design and utilization, database management and analysis. You’ll also explore the critical security aspects of computing and protection of proprietary information.

The History M.A. program offers study in U.S. History, World History, History Education, Public History and Cultural Heritage, and Museum Studies. All students receive disciplined advanced work in preparation for doctoral programs or advanced training leading to teaching or other careers.  Students select one of two options for completing the Master of Arts degree: thesis or research papers.  The first path requires a substantial master's thesis; this path emphasizes depth of knowledge and research competence.  The second path requires several research papers.  This path emphasizes breadth of historical knowledge. Students should consult with the Director of Graduate Studies to be sure that they have properly selected their fields of study.

The Master of Arts in Political Science is a general post-baccalaureate degree that gives students a broad understanding of political science and a firm grounding in scientific-based inquiry into problems in politics.

Students learn how institutional design and economic and cultural factors shape the distribution of power and patterns of cooperation and conflict in society within and outside of government.

Students master the postulating of cause-effect relationships, and the marshalling of evidence using quantitative or qualitative methods to test hypotheses about problems in politics.

Students learn their skills through intensive study of several fields within the discipline. In the general program it is possible to specialize in urban politics, policy processes and institutions, American political behavior, political economy, public administration, comparative politics, international relations, public law, and political theory. The Master of Arts is useful for students who are already in or planning on a career in secondary education, public policy, or politics. It is also useful for students who are considering doctoral education. It is particularly valuable for students simply interested in learning more about subjects that interest them.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program of the Department of Education Sciences and Professional Programs prepares professional counselors, including mental health, career, addictions, couples/family, and child and adolescent counselors, to serve the mental health needs of culturally diverse individuals, groups, couples, and families in need. The program’s outreach extends to schools, colleges and universities, community based organizations, business and industry, as well as independent practice. The program strives to develop a culturally diverse student population and to draw students from local, regional, national, and international locations.

The CMHC degree allows students to choose electives in an area of interest, such as couples and family counseling, addictions, career counseling, multicultural counseling, play therapy, and others while pursuing a rigorous course of study in clinical mental health counseling. The CMHC degree prepares students for work in a variety of community settings such as mental health clinics, community agencies, counseling centers, colleges, universities, and businesses, and for jobs as addictions counselors, career counselors, couples and family counselors, mental health counselors, child and adolescent counselors, and many others.

The University of Missouri—St. Louis counseling programs are accredited by the highest national counseling accrediting organization (the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; CACREP); this professional accreditation ensures that a degree from the program will be recognized nationally for employment and credentialing. Counseling degree program graduates have outstanding records of achieving counseling credentials, including a very high pass rate on the Missouri State counselor licensure examination. Also, counseling faculty members, as a group, are highly ranked nationally on objective measures of productivity, typically within the top 10 programs in the nation. Program faculty members take pride in providing a recognized and valuable education.

This M.S. degree in biochemistry & biotechnology is offered in cooperation with the Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This degree program encompasses both the basic principles and the technological applications of biochemistry and biotechnology, and provides students with the training they need to become a part of the broad life sciences industry.The M.S. degree in Biochemistry & Biotechnology can be earned with a thesis or without a thesis. The thesis option requires full-time enrollment, whereas the non-thesis option does not. All students admitted to the program are considered to be in the non-thesis option unless a faculty member of the program has accepted them as a thesis student.

The M. Ed. Program in Special Education explores important core knowledge in Special Education. The program's primary goal is to empower professionals as thoughtful educators who use best practices when assisting and empowering students with disabilities. Research and data-based decision-making are emphasized throughout the program. Graduate students will apply learned and evaluated research into practice in their courses, and learn to analyze multiple types of assessment data. The M.Ed. Program in Special Education consists of an initial required core of courses, a concentration area corresponding to the chosen emphasis area, and a capstone or exit course block.

When graduate students are accepted into the program, their transcripts may be reviewed, as necessary,  to identify compliance with state education certification guidelines. Students who wish to be certified in the education of children with cross-categorical disabilities will be required to fulfill general certification requirements, as well as graduate coursework. The BS in Mathematics provides a substantial background in mathematics, statistics and computer science to produce graduates who can work as mathematicians. The BA in Mathematics provides a broad grounding in different areas of mathematics, giving students the depth necessary to pursue graduate studies or other career choices like market research and business. Optional courses enable students to focus on areas of interest like pure or applied mathematics.

Students seeking to major in mathematics are first designated as “pre-mathematics majors” until they have completed both Math 1900 and Math 2000 or equivalent courses with grades of C or better.
