The BSBA, Marketing Emphasis degree program is a 120-credit-hour program that requires at least 48-credit hours be filled with business courses, of which a minimum of 18-credit hours need to be taken in Marketing courses.

The core business classes include financial and managerial accounting, legal environment of business, information systems concepts, business analytics and statistics, supply chain management, financial management, management and organizational behavior, marketing, and strategic management must be completed. Once you’ve completed your required courses, you can customize your degree with business electives, even selecting a minor, if you choose.

The BSBA, International Business Emphasis degree is a 120-credit-hour program that requires proficiency in a foreign language of international commerce (determined by the College of Business Administration). In addition, students must complete one of the following international experiences

• Study abroad for 3+ credit hours
• Complete an international internship approved by the International Business Institute
• Complete a minimum of one year international experience within 5 years of entering the program in any of the following areas: Peace Corps; volunteer work with an organization; an international posting by a company or government agency and/or approved, significant international experience

The BS in Accounting is a 120-credit-hour program that requires 30-credit hours of core business courses, 18-credit hours of Accounting courses, 60-credit hours of non-business courses, and 12-credit hours of approved electives.

The core business courses include financial and managerial accounting, legal environment of business, information systems concepts, business analytics and statistics, financial management, management and organizational behavior and more. The required Accounting courses include financial reporting, accounting information systems, income tax and auditing.

The BSW program stresses the critical, empirical, and applied aspects of social work while incorporating a liberal arts perspective throughout the curriculum. Students are required to complete 43-credit hours of human behavior, practice, research and policy courses in social work, 30-credit hours of related area coursework and 570-clock hours of fieldwork in a social services agency, providing a strong focus on community and agency field work in a social work setting. The practicum provides students the opportunity to practice what they learn in the classroom in generalist social work practice activities.

Professional social work education enables students to integrate the knowledge, values and skills of the profession into competent practice.

The Creative Writing Program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis offers a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in fiction and poetry. Our MFA is a 39 credit-hour program designed as a terminal degree. It allows a select group of student writers an extraordinary opportunity to learn the craft of writing from the inside out. The methods of instruction are simple but effective: writing workshops in fiction and poetry; seminar classes on writing craft; assistant editorial work in conjunction with internationally-renowned literary magazine Boulevard. Students in the UMSL MFA program work closely with our distinguished faculty. In the final semesters of study, each student develops a book-length thesis. UMSL MFA graduates have published books in fiction and poetry, won prestigious awards, and placed poems, stories and essays in hundreds of esteemed literary journals.

The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language, with an Emphasis in Dual Language meets the increasing demand for multilingual professionals. Students interested in pursuing intermediate studies in more than one language may combine the study of any two of the following languages: French, Japanese or Spanish. Coursework focuses on developing language proficiency, intercultural competency and professional skills. Students in the dual-language concentration also benefit from numerous study abroad opportunities to further refine their linguistic and cultural competencies.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design offers students the opportunity to explore essential cultural and professional systems through creative visual practice. Students in the Graphic Design program enjoy the benefits of close relationships with the St. Louis visual arts professional community.

Our professors maintain a rigorous program that prepares students for immediate employment as professionals in the creative industry. Students receive professional practice development with a new attention paid to entrepreneurial skills.

The BS in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in Biology, prepares students to teach in secondary school settings, grades 9-12. This program requires the selection and completion of required coursework in biology and includes field and practicum experiences in high school settings, culminating in Missouri teacher certification.

This program coordinates with the Department of Biology where you’ll be exposed to research and teaching laboratories, field studies, greenhouses and a wide variety of modern research instrumentation. Much of the discipline-specific coursework parallels the BA or BS degree in Biology; however, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires specific coursework for teacher certification.

The MA in Economics is specifically designed for those seeking to work as professional economists. Students acquire knowledge and a versatile set of skills that are highly valued in the workplace. A unique feature of the program is the opportunity to take a large number of courses in applied economics and data analysis and to gain knowledge through individual and group projects.

The BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice is an interdisciplinary program incorporating knowledge from criminology, social science, law, public administration and corrections, and provides an understanding of the assumptions, values and processes of the justice system. Core coursework includes theories of crime, criminal law, criminal justice policy and research/statistical methods in criminology and criminal justice. Students also select courses in policing, courts or corrections and more.

Credit may be allowed for individuals certified as law enforcement officers in Missouri and Illinois, as well as certified Federal law enforcement officers/agents who successfully completed police academy training. Consideration may be given to individuals certified as law enforcement officers/agents from other states.
