Admission into the Education Department and additional education departmental coursework is required. This major is designed to prepare students for the teaching profession in Health and Physical Education. With the addition of approximately 37 hours of education requirements, the student will be eligible for a Nebraska Teaching Certificate.

The choice of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is available to political science majors. If a student has a second major, the degree choice may be determined by the other major.

The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Theatre Arts is the traditional liberal arts theatre degree that provides students broad-based theatre knowledge in each of the collaborative areas. It prepares students for graduate study, professional theatre careers, and may serve as preparation for law, ministry, or educational careers. It emphasizes cultural understanding, aesthetic sensitivity, and creative skill.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will fully prepare you for a career in accounting. If you choose to graduate with two majors, and one major is only offered as a B.A. or B.S., the second major should match the first degree.

If you want to become a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) you will need to consult with an advisor for the best course curriculum.

This BFA program develops your skills as a director through experiences in the classroom and performance laboratory. In recent years, our BFA students have participated in an average of six productions a year.

Directing majors benefit from Nebraska Wesleyan's active production schedule and opportunities to direct shows can begin as early as the second semester of their sophomore year.

We also encourage directing majors to work closely with faculty as members of the production team and in stage management.

Students studying mathematics at Nebraska Wesleyan University have opportunities to engage themselves fully in their education by conducting research with faculty, teaching in the Math Tutoring Center, grading for courses, attending Math Club events, and working collaboratively with their peers.

The Bachelor of Arts in music is comprised of a basic core of courses that provides a solid foundation in music. Through advisement, students can develop areas of additional interest such as applied music, music theory/composition, and music history. Minors may also be constructed in other disciplines.

The Department of Modern Languages at Nebraska Wesleyan University prepares students to engage in a diverse and changing world through the study of languages, literatures and cultures. Recognizing that the study of language is central to the experience of a liberal arts education, the Department of Modern Languages serves the entire student body through the Archway Curriculum and its Major and Minor programs. At every level, students develop skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing, equipping them to communicate with global competence.

Modern Language Studies at NWU:
The study of language and cultures is central to the humanities and vital to students as they prepare for professional careers in a globally interconnected society. The Department of Modern Languages offers a broad curriculum with courses in language, culture and literature, supported by interdisciplinary collaboration with departments and programs across the university and through study abroad opportunities.

Students who want to pursue a B.F.A. degree will need to go through a B.F.A. Clearance. In order to qualify, students must complete or be currently enrolled in required art core courses (ART 1050 Art Research, ART 1300 Introduction to Drawing, and ART 2300 Intermediate Drawing) as well as one introductory art history course, and introductory (1000-level) courses in both 2-D and 3-D media. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in all art classes at the time of the review. The B.F.A. Clearance will be held concurrently with the annual portfolio review that is required for art majors. The art department faculty will evaluate the portfolio and inform the student of its decision to allow for time to plan schedules.

Students majoring in Health and Fitness Studies may pursue interest in such areas as personal training, strength and conditioning training, worksite wellness, health promotions, fitness centers, and graduate school. See your advisor regarding possible career choices and graduate school requirements.
